if you’re trying say Bae is more valuable than Szmodics then you need lay off the monkey dust I’m saying that Szmodics’ age will be bringing down his transfer fee so he isn’t a great reference point for the original poster who was comparing him to Bae. Hypothetically if Bae has a season anywhere near as good as Szmodics’s last one we’d get a much higher transfer fee than Blackburn are getting because he’s much younger. That being said, Szmodics is reportedly being sold for £9m potentially rising to £11m. That’s the same ballpark that we’ve sold our other bright young players for recently (Collins and Souttar) so I don’t think the suggestion that we could get that much for Bae is as laughable as you think it is. He does probably need to add a bit more output in terms of goals and assists before anyone’s willing to pay that much though. Exactly this. Look at the Osula to Newcastle deal. On paper his stats look gash but they’ve paid 10-15 million due to age and potential (and likely a bit of FFP manipulation) |

Slightly disconcerting is Smozics price is 9m plus add-ons. A 33 goal striker for 10m. Where does that leave us at the negotiating table if Fulham/ Feyenoord are up for it? 0 re-sale value, if he's on a 3 year deal. He's 29 next month. Had an outlier of a season in the championship. I rate Szmodics but as a financial investment Bae is worth more. I guess Ipswich are hoping that Smozics turns out to be a Jamie Vardy type signing. Bargain for 10m if that turns out to be the case.. |

By your own admission: Players are worth what a club will pay for them, so let's see how much Bae goes for I suspect it will be for more than £10m - and as mentioned, that's because of his age and potential/ceiling 👍🏼 |
