Szmodics has a strange history never having threatened the top scorer charts before last year. I think a lot of teams would gave been cautious about spending a lot on him. It will be interesting to see what happens this season and if Ipswich get relegated whether he does it for them in the Championship. |

Hypothetically if Bae has a season anywhere near as good as Szmodics’s last one we’d get a much higher transfer fee than Blackburn are getting because he’s much younger. That being said, Szmodics is reportedly being sold for £9m potentially rising to £11m. That’s the same ballpark that we’ve sold our other bright young players for recently (Collins and Souttar) so I don’t think the suggestion that we could get that much for Bae is as laughable as you think it is. He does probably need to add a bit more output in terms of goals and assists before anyone’s willing to pay that much though. |
