Confuscious say’a positive Stoke fan isn’t really a Stoke fan.’

I guess to play devil’s advocate; the club have been fucking up for years, and we’ve endured a relatively torrid time as a result of those fuckups. So whilst these past few weeks have been the most exciting times for years, the reality is all we’ve done is signed a new team. We still have no idea if it’s going to be a success or failure. The last few weeks isn’t even close to atonement for the last 6+ years of dross. I am excited but also nervous that this could be yet another false dawn. It will be depressing beyond belief if, come October, we’re in a relegation battle and looking for yet another new manager. But I do have faith that we’ll have a good season and get on an upward trajectory again At some point you have to park what’s happened over the last 6 years and move on. Personally, I think now is a good time to do that given the intent being made to move the club forward. Think we need to get behind the current squad and coaching team who have no culpability for what has recently been disappointing times. I do agree, it’s all water under the bridge now and, from what I can tell, I’m highly impressed with our process for the first time in a decade or more. I have strong faith the next 2-3 years will be a lot of fun as we get back on a clear upwards trajectory. As I say I was playing devil’s advocate and looking to defend people who aren’t willing to get on the hype train just yet. We’ve had so many false dawns from relegation onwards that I can understand why some people have lost their faith. It’s down to the club now to restore it.

I don’t see myself as overly negative.
I see myself as pragmatic.
This season is more of a genuine unknown than previous seasons. Previous seasons there was the stench of mediocrity. This season, who knows.
Whilst it is only one game, I do think a win Saturday will help things. Especially as it’s against a bogey team in Rotherham. One who will come to defend and nick a goal.
Lose 0-1 and we’ll be thinking, same old Stoke.

A 4-1 win on the opening day of the season with some super football on show and yet we still have the gloom merchants whingeing, this time its Jacob Brown that was the subject of the whipping boys. Only in attention seeking Oatcake land The latest whipping boyGouranga.
