I still have a very good feeling about this guy and I don't really know why.
Maybe its blind optimism but I just think he'll operate a lot better in the system we found towards the end of the season.

With the runners we had last night, baker in particular was breaking the lines like I’ve not seen for years, if ever. Mmaee suits that system to a tee, especially if we get someone rapid for the left.

In terms of general play that could be very good But :he simply isn't going to get in the box and score goals often enough looking for 10+ league goals from the striker, Mmaee isn't going to do that

If Junho or Manhoef were prolific there’s be less onus on output from the central striker but despite delighting most of us Junho’s output so far has been poor and Manhoef’s whilst better nothing to write home about (BJ goal involvement every 5 games MM every 3 games). We need a signing/s to weigh in heavily. I’m hoping for 1 marquee CF signing on a perm, a loan for a player that can play across the front line and at least 1 attacking midfielder.

Mmaee is a good footballer. Certainly good enough to be very effective in the Championship. His technique and link up play are his big assets.
He could potentially form a great partnership with Junho and Manhoef, however it remains to be seen whether the overall system would work, given he isn't a target man and we'd need to adapt our style to get the best out of him (or tweak our system/his position etc). You ideally want him in the 10 role, with somebody alongside him/ahead of him.
Hes definitely a great asset to have in the squad, assuming his previous issues are now in the past and he's 100% committed.

We’re coming from a terrible base where we averaged a goal a game as a team for the vast majority of last season. For me believing that will significantly change without addition of significant output is akin to believing in fairies at the bottom of the garden. Thankfully I think the HC is of the same opinion.

There isn’t a 10 in the formations the HC tends to use and Mmaee’s work rate and ground coverage is nowhere near good enough to play as one of the two 8’s in the system he does. The centre of the front 3 is literally the only place for him in Schu’s favoured system.

Mmaee isn’t good enough and a bit of a sulker , trouble is a 15+ a season scorer aren’t cheap

There’s definitely a player in there. I just don’t know whether he will have the work rate required for amSchumacher side or this league.
If he stays will be interesting to see how he gets on, a seasons experience in the championship will have done him good.

Mmaee isn’t good enough and a bit of a sulker , trouble is a 15+ a season scorer aren’t cheap I think if he can stay fit he scores at least 10+. Having a 15+ goal scorer isn’t necessarily crucial at this level so long as there’s enough goals elsewhere in the team but that’s to be determined by the remaining transfer business.

Ipswich scored the most in the league last season (92) on the way to promotion, their two top scorers finished on 13 apiece and another bagged 11. On the whole the best teams don't rely on a single player to get the bulk of their goals - for one thing it's far easier to defend, just mark the main man out of the game. Also a striker capable of scoring 20+ goals isn't going to get 20+ goals without the service. If we had one in the team last season we might have added a few more to the goal tally but we simply weren't creating enough chances. We need to improve the teamwork upfront and spread the goal scoring around not just plonk a new striker upfront and expect the problem to go away.

Sounds like he would have been involved tonight but he's got tonsillitis.
Hopefully see him play a part at the weekend.

You'd have thought he would be recovered from tonsillitis by now but must be way off match fitness. I think he'll make the bench against Coventry.

Apparently he’s recovered from illness and now has a knee injury according to one of the posters prior to the weekend game. With Gallagher out our only fit senior striker is Ennis.

You are going to need around 40 goals from your 4 or 4 forwards to finish near the top. Galley, Ennis, mmae and ? Let’s keep our fingers crossed!

As as already been said, a 15/20 goal a season isn't necessary providing a decent tally of goals are coming from all parts of the team.

Eh dunner talk rubbish they're competing for one place. If you have a CF play 46 games is he likely to score 40 goals? In this system its your 3 forwards and 2 advanced midfielders who should get the bulk of your goals with the others chipping in with the odd one here and there. If those players get anywhere near scoring 10 and assisting 10 a piece you're well on your way to a respectable goals scored total.
