Not sure Celina had 31 then 20 games in 2 Championship promotion sides relatively recently though? I haven’t watched tonight so I’m judging him on his Fulham career. A bloody good midfielder with good pedigree at this level. He has no problem in fitting in tonight. Hard to judge on 45 mins though but an upgrade on Clucas and probably on half the money ha can be a really decent player but there’s a reason he’s not played many times for all the clubs he’s been at he can also go missing in games

Our first-choice midfield of Pearson-Laurent-Johnson is of decent top-half standard, but a single injury and we're looking at garbage replacements. It's a no-brainer to bring in another player who's around the same standard as the starters if we can get him for free.

I'd take him on a free. Just think of him as a Clucas replacement and you'll be happy. Where did Clucas end up Don't think he's got a club yet

Judging by the Neil interview, I'd be surprised if he wasn't offered something Presumably Neil has seen enough to think he can do some of the uglier stuff in addition to his apparent technical ability.

Not got a club yet. Someone on here sees him walking his dog and says he wants to stay local as he’s settled. to be fair I can imagine Sam would be good at dogging

Worry there's a slight whiff of the Bruce Dyers about this but as Bayern says, if he can get back to the form he showed at his best at Fulham there's a real player there.

Thing is I look at a lot of the top 6 sides and question how good are their 2nd choice players? Are they really that much better than Baker, Thompson? I genuinely don't know. I agree though, Onomah would be a great free.

Think theonlooker mentioned it earlier but I completely agree that Onomah is very much a dogs home signing and one I think will do well. Has good pedigree being at Spurs, Villa and Fulham and looked good last night. Would imagine he'd get plenty of game time between him, Laurent, Pearson and Baker so seems good business to get him in on a free.

Thompson is League One standard really- he's done a job for us in being a good egg and filling in to a very average standard, but we have to move on from players like him if we're serious about challenging near the top of the division. I'd say most promotion contenders have back-ups who are a lot better than him. Baker is a source of frustration as he could arguably be a better player than either Laurent or Johnson if he wanted to be. If he plays like he did last season though I don't even want him near the team as a back-up. In a 46-game season, it's squads that get promoted really, not first elevens.

from what i saw it them first 45 mins he certainly is worth a contract. won most things in the air if not all, chased and closed down, had a few good attacks forward too! He’s a big lad too which helps as we don’t have the worlds most physical midfield. Would help with second balls etc in the air too. Aerial presence and muscling back possession on the ground are the only qualities missing from DJ's locker, but if we get the same Onomah from the 19/20 season at Fulham, we pretty much have the ideal pressing No 10 - a forward passer who can unlock defences and make chances. That was a really positive contribution last night (albeit against inferior opposition). If he plays like that against Everton, sign him up on a 1 year deal with the option for a second.

When I heard that he was training with us I was a bit "meh" but if last night is replicated consistently then we need to get him signed up.

He plays a different role to be fair. If Pearson gets injured it’s not like we can play Onomah in his place.

Thompson has always looked tidy and dependable enough to me! I’m prepared to accept that I’m probably wrong given the weight of the consensus but I’ve always quite liked him 🤷🏼♂️
Just thought I’d stick up for him a bit 🥲

Jordan Thompson under zero pressure in a testimonial paced match, fine. Unfortunately, the championship is the complete opposite and he can't handle it.

Don't get me wrong he is absolutely not a starter by any means. But someone who should be used only if needed. He's never been someone i've hated or gone mad at for coming on. You usually don't notice him which for someone who plays in his position, isn't a bad thing
