I don't think you can do that unless you have too many players. If we only have for example exactly 25 over age players and one of them is Vidigal, he has to be named as you cannot just not name someone, it stops clubs bringing in free agents when they already have that number of players, even if we never intend to play them When in a bored moment in a waiting room the other day I tried to work out in my head how many players we have, to name in our squad, and only got about 21 and that included Bae and Lawal whose ages I wasn't sure on. Pretty sure Bae still doesn't have to be named as he was u21 at the start of the season. So why would we not name Vidigal? It would still leave three places free. Completely agree, I was more saying I don't think you can anyway, if he is a senior player on the books, as you often have injured players still registered where teams do not have the full 25. If he is here he may well be needed. Id have him somewhere in the squad next week for the cup game if he is fit, as If he can't cut for that sort of game it will show if we can use him.

Thought he looked like he had bulked up since last season and was decent in preseason too. Should really be able to shine in the youth team if he ever is going to play for us again. If he could find back to his form from the start of last season he would be valuable for us. I've got a feeling though his time with Stoke is up.

Didn't we leave Blondy and McCarron out of our January squad list although they were over 21? Pretty sure we had space (24 named) as there was some discussion as to why it had happened at the time. oatcakefanzine.proboards.com/thread/311882/stoke-confirm-man-squad-list

Anyone else seen Vidigals latest insta story? He's definitely abroad (probably) Looked like he put the work in on there pre season but in his other stories I think he’d seemed like flash Harry. Flaunting expensive clothes and Jewellery with zero taste. Type to go to a restaurant or club with a big entourage

He has been named in the squad submitted to the EFL. I imagine his inclusion is symbolic more than anything because if there are windows still open in other parts of the world and an acceptable offer came in for both parties he’d be off.
I simply can’t see him getting any minutes with us unless we have a disastrous run of injuries.

So there's one more day before the Turkish window shuts. All gone a bit quiet on this one since he was spotted in Istanbul...

He'll be gone.
I'd love us to make our money back or get a loan where at least some of the wages are paid.

Nobody think he still has a role to play, seems to be a general consensus that he's finished here despite having a positive pre-season?
Not saying he's a starter by any means but he seems to have a decent attitude and want to do well for us.

Thought he played well in pre-season

Schumacher did make a choice to put someone that only dedicated u21 watchers had heard of on the bench ahead of him against Plymouth though.
If that's not a signal, hard to know what would count as one
If he doesn't go to Turkey today, it'll be interesting to see if it's a fresh start and there's a signal he'll have a role over the next 4 months, or whether he's a notable exclusion again.
Obviously Mmaee's gone, and Will Smith will probably be a straightforward one to drop out of the squad, but there's Cannon, Stevens, Rose, Thompson and Seko to potentially come into the 20 too - and Gallagher maybe in the next fortnight?
It's very surprising he hasn't gone given these supposed offers from Qatar and Turkey, with Schumacher making it clear where he stands

Don't think so. Sentinel suggested they didn't even take him to Plymouth, with Jeffers and Adekoya, pretty unheralded youth players, going instead. It'll be interesting to see if anything has shifted tomorrow if the Turkish window closes with him still here www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/stoke-city-transfer-andre-vidigal-9531918His status in the squad was underlined when he was left at home for the away trip to Plymouth on Saturday, with youth forward Keke Jeffers taking a spot on the bench and Dean Adekoya also in the travelling party.

That's much clearer 1 man bomb squad then You'd think a loan would have suited if the player didn't want to lose out revhis contact and the manager doesn't want to use him
