Precisely. Who else is going to invest? The fact these have come in and actually done something is something that should be celebrated. Otherwise what’s the alternative? My hope is they see value in the area that other developers don't. I don't agree with the sycophancy shown them by the previous council leadership but they're gone now. I'd like to see Spode grow far more organically though and local people get the opportunity to develop and build it. The money they're taking out of it Capital & Centric you'd hope Capital & Centric would be providing CSR along those lines but why would they. You'll have to excuse my negativity around this sort of stuff. My judgement on the ability to deliver in this city is somewhat clouded by burying £19m in the ground and walking away from it with zero consequence. If we had a decent local media they'd be all over it and grilling the local politicians continually but Reach have put paid to that. I feel like this deserves its own thread Cranny, you seem to know a lot about where all the moneys gone.. do you know much about the road, that’s still shut by bath pool? Like what the hell are they doing up there? An old cynical bastard I might be, but I’ve seen a few red industry lorry’s firing that way. Wonder if they’re tipping shit up there

Still I understand your previous in this type of project and don’t blame you. What I like about this project is their timings and doing what they say they’re doing. It’s impressive to me. Maybe I’m just getting starry eyed but it’s the best project in our area I e seen for a very long time and I just want it to be a success I don't wholly disagree with it I hope to see the commercial areas of it buzzing and occupied, it could be a great catalyst along with the 800 odd student units going up on the other side of the road. Again the DHN needs not only connecting to both developments it needs to become operational to them, otherwise it's pointless. I struggle to see where they're going with the proposed Newcastle development, I just don't see the benefit of more commercial units in a rapidly emptying town. Make it all residential, or put some public services in there too. Again they're the experts not me. I just get the feeling they'll pull the pants down of the local authorities whilst they're at it, though I'm sure that's the nature of the beast.

I'm sure that's just some form of money laundering exercise for each of the past owners now. Again lack of a Robust local media means they don't get held to account.

Heard somebody bought it to redevelop recently but I think you’re right on the money laundering part tbh. It’s a proper eyesore

I'll believe it when I see it with that one but they've got new scaffold up on there, not sure if it's just for enhanced safety or they're actually working on it. They'll make money on the price they paid I guess.
