Plenty of Stoke ones down the years most mentioned above.
My non Stoke one is Chesterfields disallowed goal in the 97 FA Cup semifinal against Boro. They would have been the first third tier club to reach the final. I’ll go to my grave knowing that the ball crossed the line.

When the club and Tony Pulis parted ways. I knew it was the beginning of the end. U ok Hun? The good news was that Boskamp was able to come in and build a squad from the 7 players he had been left with and finished just one place lower in the table.

1984/85 season
Everything about it - utter garbage from start to end.
We would have finished in the bottom section of the old fourth division with that squad.
Paul Dyson and Brendan at the back, endless mistakes and own goals. Expecting to lose every time I showed up and the endless stick I got at school where most were Vale.
I hated every minute of it and it still haunts me now.

The hope I felt after Stoke beat Derby 2-1 in 2018 - despite Etebo getting sent off - being extinguished almost immediately. For about a week I honestly thought we would get back on track for a playoff push under Rowett 🤦♂️

My memory of that season is the competition that Dyson and Berry seemed to be having as to who could score the most own goals. (Probably equally harsh I know ).

Losing to Chester that realy fucked us up getting promoted, Im down for a few days whenever we lose, but after that Chester defeat, it was a few weeks before I got over it.

We simply couldn't score Game would end at 0.1

Not so much haunting but my first taste of being completely gutted as a young 16 year old stoke fan in 1977 I’d got the bug when I first went in 1970 with my dad. Aston Villa away last game of the season we needed to win to stand any chance of staying up. If I remember rightly a draw may have done depending on results coming up elsewhere. Needless to say we lost 1-0 and went down. Sure it was a night match. I was sick to the stomach on the coach going home that night. And think I was gutted until the opening fixture of the next season in the second tier. Following Stoke in the early 70s as a young kiddie I thought I was supporting one of the best teams in the land. League cup final, Watney cup final, fa cup semi finals. Ajax in Europe etc. anyone else have memories of the Villa game ? Strangely I remember there not being many Stoke fans in attendance. You mirrored my experiences. Villa Park was indeed a midweek night game. We actually played quite well, but I was resigned to us going down by then. We were scattered around the old Witton Lane end that night. Not too many there.

For my late father's generation it was 14th June 1947 and the 2-1 defeat at Sheffield United which cost Stoke the title. The nearest we have ever come, or are likely to come, to being top flight champions.

Butland's clanger versus Leicester and Adam's penalty miss are probably the first two to spring to mind.

Non stoke: Hillsborough, Bradford, Ibrox and Heysel (I'm too young to remember Bolton). You don't expect your loved ones to not return from a footie match
Stoke: Banksy's car crash, losing 7 nil to B'ham and the subsequent pitch invasion

Leicester play offs second leg . We were clueless and punting balls to their giant centre backs all game.
Was clear from the first 10 mins it wouldn't work and only a matter of time until they scored
What made it worse was that Moxey gave us a form about 30 mins before kick off to fill in for how many Wembley tickets we wanted to reserve 😥

Both semi finals in the FA cup against Arsenal, the first defeat was bad enough but for it to happen again the next season piled on the misery. Went to all the games and going from euphoria to despair on the 2nd occasion was just mind numbing.

Wilson making very lucky save . Last minute penalty. Can’t get much worse than that and the white coat offside goal at Everton just added to the pain . Still think if Jackie Marsh hadn’t been dropped we would have won . Armstrong wasn’t exactly Ronaldo
