Could mention so many moments from the 2018 relegation season. But the 2 main moments for me were Butland throwing it in the net against Leicester, then West Ham’s late equaliser against us. Both equally felt like the moment we were done.
Other than that, losing 3-0 to Wigan at home early in our first season back down was a resounding moment of realisation that we were actually shite and probably not going to be back in the prem anytime soon.

The defeat at Lester 89/90. Winning at half time, seemingly in control. Then just fizzle away.
The defeat at Bournemouth 17/18. Identical to the above.

The fact that Vale fans were stupid enough to hire a banner-flying plane over our ground on the wrong freaking day.
It's haunting. (In a stomach-gas sort of way)
For me: Butland playing dodge-ball with our own net. The Charlie penalty fiasco. Bojan's injury on that dodgy pitch.

The 1984-85 “Holocaust Season”.
Only my second season as a Stoke fan and if I’m still here after that shitshow, you’ll never get rid of me.
We’ve had some awful times since then but nothing has ever been as bad as that season. Three wins. Just three wins. Three. I still have nightmares.

Ah, but they were well spaced out (one in September, 1 in December and 1 in March), so we had plenty of time to savour one before the next came along and they did include Man Utd and Arsenal.

England losing on penalties to Germany in 1990 by an absolute mile for me
We battered them that night, Gazza, Waddle, Platt, Beardsley, Steven and Lineker were utterly fantastic and a jammy goal from Andy Brehme in the one area where Shilts couldn't get to was a sickener they didn't deserve
Then of course Gazza's yellow was awful for his but to his credit he played like a man possessed for the rest of the game
I remember when Waddle hit his penalty over the bar not being able to believe what I had just saw. I was in a bar in Tenerife and it was packed out with England fans, many crying, some angry, some in disbelief at what had happened, there were Dutch fans in there too rooting for us. I do think though it was a catalyst for many to fall in love again. And of course who can forget Pavarotti and Nessun Dorma!

Losing to Stockport & Gillingham in the playoffs & to a lesser extent losing to Citeh in 2011 knowing (believing!) that had we had the side that played Bolton we probably wouldve won it

Springfield Park, muddy bank behind the goal, pissing down, Alan Ball, 4-0. Still haunts me to this day. Losing 5-1 or something like that to them when we could have gone top of the league

Not as important or seminal as many on here but Stamford Bridge 09 first season where Rory put us 0-1 up but they scored 2 right at the end.
We were so obnoxious and that second goal was painful.

However much it upset me loosing to them in the final I could never want the shit to win against any team in the world. They are the lowest of the low, a steaming pile of horseshit of a club with an army of arrogant glory hunting twats who claim to follow them yet have never stepped foot in Manchester let alone Old Trafford. The longer Man city stay at the top the longer it means those cunts never will be, for that reason alone I'm glad they beat them yesterday but to see the look on that twat Fergies face when they were loosing was priceless.

The 1976/77 season:- Financial problems caused by the collapse of the uninsured Butler Street stand were "resolved" by the selling of Hudson, Greenhoff, Shilton, Pejic and Crookes. Waddington "resigned". (Denis's autobiography suggests he was forced to do so and effectively became the board's scapegoat) We got relegated. The season was topped off when the S**t won the FA Cup our player.

The ball hitting Kenwyne Jones' shoulder as it came over his shoulder. Joe Hart had already began to rush out late, the ball hit his shoulder just enough to give Hart the extra second to narrow the angle

If the roof hadn't blown off we'd have had to sell the big earners anyway.

Can I say 98% of the last 6 seasons? Apart from the occasional highlight it has been total misery.

Police horse farting in my face at Leeds I can match that. After a St Helen's rugby game, when leaving the ground, a police horse, complete with rider, fell onto my bloody car. The policeman was extremely apologetic and gave me full details to pay for the damage caused. Most of the damage was both to my passenger's and my trousers from the almighty bang it made when it fell. Frightened us to death.

I'm not sure l've yet recovered from that absolute troucing that Leeds gave us on our first game after relegation. After all the money Rowett had spent, it was fair to assume that we'd be top six material at the very least. That match showed just how far off the required standard we were.

Cried my eyes out at this one as a youngster. Ronald Koeman who should have been sent off minutes before the free kick after hauling down Platt with just the keeper to beat. We really were a terrible side back then and failed to qualify for the World Cup. Fantastic partisan commentary by the late great Brian Moore and Big Ron though

Heskey works his way into the box down the right, stands up a cross to the back post, arriving is Garry Parker...left foot...boom...top corner. I remember a weird silence in the ground as the cross came over and the thud of his boot connecting with ball sticks with me to this day. Leicester go to Wembley and go up and we all know where we ended up.
