If you take the loan players away and those out of contract there needs to be almost a new team bought in. So I’d like to think we’re already being proactive. Currently I think we’re looking at
New GK
New RB (Would love Sterling to stay) Wilmot New CB (Be good if we can go back in for Cresswell) New LB (Be great to get Hoever in for another year if Wolves stay up)
DM (Please, please get Pearson in. If B’mouth stay up I think we’re in with a fighting chance). If not someone of his ilk. Thompson has proved he can’t play this role) CM Laurent New CM (Though I still hold out hope for Baker. I can see AN going in for Pritchard the lad from Sunderland who scored against us as sadly I don’t think Smallbone will stay).
RF Campbell New CF (preferably a young target man in the Fletcher mould) New LF
Squad Brown, Gayle, Tezgel, Lowe, Wright Phillips, Fox, Taylor, Bonham

It seems genuine that he'd love to play for us at some point. Worth chasing up.

Sterling the most probable as Hoever cost Wolves £9m not long ago. So, another left back suggestion…

Brereton-Diaz on the left and Campbell on the right of a front three would be very tasty.
If he hasn't made his mind up yet we should be all over it.

When was the interview that he made those comments? Recently? 3 weeks ago. To be fair, he says all his family support Stoke too, and says he was a season ticket holder. Namechecks Ricardo and Mama Get him in!

Would certainly be a downgrade on Sterling. I think we will keep sterling but I would guess signing Hoover might not happen.

He was being linked with Premier League clubs in January and there’s interest in him from La Liga too? Yeah, didn't they say Villareal in commentary? (They also said his dad was matchday commander at Stoke or something similar) Also, that vid re playing for Stoke thing, he's just answering a question surely, they even say 'maybe, eventually, in the future'.

He’ll have way better options than us surely. Not necessarily. Additional things will go into his decision making melting pot than most players we have a chance of signing. It also would be way better to give him a big signing on fee than giving another championship team the money. He'd be an outstanding option for us and he genuinely could be the difference in getting us promoted, which hopefully as a club we are demonstrating to him and he'd write himself into club history by doing it. If he signed, a very big if (but still possible), he would either need to drift left alot less than he does now, or Campbell would need to move to the right.

www.brfcs.com/forums/topic/33524-ben-brereton-diaz/page/297/Seems to be at least some scepticism from Rovers fans about whether he could perform in the Prem at this stage. He would be a gamble for anyone in that league, or a Villarreal who were supposedly going to sign him on a pre-contract. But probably one they could afford, on a free, at wages that anyone in the Champo could get nowhere near. But doubtful anyone in Spain would be looking at him without the hoopla around his Chile switch and his Diazification. Is he really going to start and add to a top 6 team in Spain? He seems to have had a baby in recent weeks too, which could be a reason to want to stay in England for a while.

BUY: Sarkic, Pearson, Smallbone, Brereton-Diaz, Stewart, Celina SIGN: Sterling LOAN: Hoever, Tuanzebe FIRST XI ———————Sarkic———————- Hoever Wilmot Tuanzebe Sterling ——————-Pearson——————— ——-Smallbone——Laurent———- Campbell ——Stewart——Brereton RESERVE XI ———————Bonham———————- Edwards? —Taylor —-Fox—— Tymon ——————-Thompson——————— ————-Baker———-Sparrow?———- Brown ———-Gayle—————Celina Sparrow managed five games in the Scottish Championship this season. I see him getting released soon. I’d be shocked if we sign all you suggest. We’d surely need to break the wage structure for Diaz and Tuanzebe.

Why are folk picking Sterling as a left back? It’s getting boring now. We don’t have to fish in the same pool we have at present as it’s unlikely they’ll all be available. It’s a left back we need. Sterling would be great at right.

Top end Championship clubs and staying at Blackburn arguably better looking options to him at present too.

re Tymon:
There's theoretically still time for him to have a run at LB in the remaining games - but wouldn't be the biggest shock in the world if he didn't. He seems to be 100% fit now and isn't being picked there
Two years left on his deal.
If we were open to offers in the summer, where do you think he'd end up and for how much?
I find it hard to really work out what his market would be, despite the fact he's a very useful player.
Presumably it'd have to be a club that played with a back three?

If we got £2M for Tymon I would sell and spend the money on a natural left back who can defend.

Stats wise he's as good an attacking full back as you can get in this league, so you'd like to think there would be interest in the premier League, where it's been reported before at £6-7m (from memory). He's 23 so still has the best years ahead of him and with proper coaching he could be made a lot more effective at tackling. Think what that money could do for us.

I just don’t see that happening with Tymon. Premiership? I’d be staggered. He just doesn’t fit really and I’d move on if we can.

AN talks about recruiting new players who 'complement' those who we already have. But given our dependency on loanees how many genuine first teamers do we actually have? Campbell Laurent and Wilmott that's three l see Gayle, Brown and Tymon as squad players. As others have said, we desperately need a proper number nine, a goalkeeper, a left sided centre back and a left back and go full out to make Sterling, Pearson and Smallbone permanent signings.

While I'm a big fan of Smallbone, not least in terms of his assists, could Baker not do a similar job if allowed to play higher up the pitch with Pearson doing the dirty work behind him? I'm convinced we haven't seen the best of Baker or used him to best effect.

Not convinced he would to be honest - work rate doesn't seem comparable and Baker's best role is the one Laurent is currently playing. It's one or the other of them for that role.
