Playing with better players has worked out really well for him , and for us of course! He looks much better with the likes of Axel, Sterling and Pearson on the pitch. Less pressure on him for a start. Also not a fan, but he’s played really well in recent games. He’s stayed fit as well. One of the biggest issues in his first 12 months or so was that he was injured on and off constantly….. |

Must admit I thought when Axel had to go off I feared the worst. Thought Fox did well as a replacement though.

That tackle at the end when Forss was about to be through on goal and Fox came across and slammed the door shut in his face was a point saving interception. The entire defence did well last night, it must be difficult for confidence with a League 2 standard keeper between the sticks. |

There was a tackle in the second half he absolutely he had to make near the touch line as they were breaking, and I reckon 60% of defenders go for the slide and miss it and they’re through. He stayed on his feet and made the tackle well. He’s showing he’s a decent centre half.

When he first played CB in a 4 he was a total liability but he's improved a lot over the last few months and is decent enough cover for both LB and CB now.

I think for a relatively small guy he is very decent in the air.. all in all a very solid and versatile squad player, as is Thompson.

He isn't small, is he? 6ft 1" or so, so taller than Jagielka and maybe Wilmot. He has got an absolutely massive head though, he'd probably be about 5ft 7" without that fucking bonce. |

The modern defender is free to make a string of exciting cock ups providing they do "good things" (TM) in the attacking half. Being reliable and able to actually defend is just old hat. I've been hyper critical of him in the past but he's been better of late so well worth the call up. Mind you his dithering nearly cost us on Saturday. Early doors against Sargent, but in fairness he did get back to pressure him into ballsing it up, and then in the second half when he let Aarons waltz round him when he comically just collapsed over the ball. That said he's more than good enough for Wales and as back up for us. |

I would argue he has been one of the steadiest performers since about November. He is a regular 6.5-7.0 out of 10 performer. He not too of the range in the left back catalogue, but if he was he would not be at Stoke.. steady Eddie who is a reliable squad member moving forward.
