The thread on best live band ever got me thinking of the worst.
For me -
- Happy Mondays. Just before they split, were absolutely crap. Support band, Stereo MCs were brill though.

See, now I thought they were rather good ;D Ive said before, but I saw Fallout Boy three times (not intentionally I add, it was at various festivals), first time I thought they were just having an off day, by the third time I realised they were genuinely shite live

I can think of some exceedingly piss-poor live bands but the ones' that really stand out are;
1 Siouxsie and The Banshees - Vicky Hall 1979
They were booed off the stage - absolute crap
2 Public Image - Vicky Hall 1986
Absolute shyte - Lydon sneered to the (very small) crowd "You're paying for this shit..." before he was hit on the head with a bottle
3 Jesus and Mary Chain - Manchester Apollo - 1986
On stage for 3 minutes - complete drivel
"Truly Art as Terrorism" the NME wrote of the gig
Truly Awful - a gig that lasted 3 minutes
;D

Not to forget Maralyn Manson, Big day out in Milton Keynes when Metallica headlined back in 98.
The bloke was hit with a plastic bottle (empty) a few songs into his set and walked off the big Jessie. I thought he was supposed to be hard. The funniest part of it was when he threatened to get his body gaurds on the crowd.
;D

The Secret Machines.
Richard Ashcroft at Old Trafford cricket ground was bloody depressing, really sombre set, he even dedicated one song to anyone who'd thought about suicide. Just what you need on a hot day in summer.

There have been a few but two spring to mind:
UFO, mid 80's Viccy Hall
I loved this band but at this point in their history the drink and the rows were rife, they turned up ratarsed and were dreadful, I was so disappointed.
Belouis Some ( remember them?) Knebworth '86 on the Queen Bill. A brilliant day ruined by these tossers, lasted one song which I think was there one hit "Imagination". He introduced the second song called, wait for it, "Target Practice" ( I kid you not!)
I think you can all work out what happened in the next ten seconds....absolute pisser!! ;D ;D ;D

Really? Siouxsie and the Banshees were wank live? I was always under the impression that they were supposed to be excellent live. Ah, I feel really disappointed now.

UFO, mid 80's Viccy Hall I loved this band but at this point in their history the drink and the rows were rife, they turned up ratarsed and were dreadful, I was so disappointed. I was at this gig. Don't particularly remember them being awful, just ear splittingly loud! So loud in fact, that they might have been bad and I wouldn't have known. Saw them twice before at Manchester Free Trade and at The Highwayman in Threapwood and they were fucking amazing both times. One of the worst shows I ever experienced was The Vibrators at the Top of the World, Stafford.... Everything that was bad about punk was on display that night!

Che - very true.I saw them on that tour at Viccy Hall.Bez with that metal frame on him arm just standing there - Shaun Ryder slumped up the corner of the stage of his head on smack mumbling into the mike.
A sad end to a great band
The Stereo MCs blew em away

To be honest, I can't remember the date, I seem to recall it was 1985? Anyway Schenker had left (again) and "Tonka" Chapman was lead guitar. I just remember them staggering around a lot, Phil Mogg forgetting the words and Pete Way was in a right state! Sadly that was the only time I've seen them but Strangers in the Night is one of the Great live Rock Albums.

Schenker was still in the line up when I saw them (probably more like 82) Never saw MSG but have DVD footage which hasn't impressed me. ('Force it' was my fave album of UFO's. One of the all time greatest album covers too)

If you go to see The Fall expecting a conventional musical performance, then you might be disappointed - although why you would go if that was what you expected is beyond me. If, however, you go to see The Fall expecting the unexpected (if that isn't a contradiction in terms), with a bit of improvised theatre, a bit of pugilism, plus bloody good music once in a while, you most certainly won't be disappointed.

I think it was the tour where Schenker had his guitar man playing for him back stage? Yeah, I was there! Wasn't Cozy Powell on drums that tour?

I lit a fag for Brix at that Shelley's gig and I haven't washed my mind since.
I've seen The Fall over 40 times and in fairness to JR they do have their fair share of off-nights. However, I think he saw them supporting U2 so there might be more obvious reasons why he didn't quite get them.
