We need a dose of the Mark Crossley affect - a keeper who actually commands his box will be huge for us making the step up and should give the defence far more confidence in themselves.
Should we get that right we could be in a position to make a run at the top 6 in the new year (might be the gins talking), 5 points off in a dreadful league

Steve Simonsen Mark II would do.
We were in the Championship when we got him on a free from Everton weren't we.
NOTE: For the glass half full'ers such as myself we are also 3 points off relegation with the league leaders up next.
Either way we do need a functioning keeper. It would always be the first position I would look to fill.

It feels like you just turned yesterdays draw in to a win !

Neil must be eyeing up the potential Souttar cash
You'd think we'd need that if we wanted to do anything with Iversen, who'd probably cost £2m+.
The Wolves No.2 had a really good spell at Birmingham last season and the Brum fans loved him, and seems to be available.

Unless we offload some of our loan players (If we can?).

He had a stormer in our home game against them and seems a really good keeper to me, aside from the pathetic play acting.

The Wolves No.2 had a really good spell at Birmingham last season and the Brum fans loved him, and seems to be available. We'd have to buy him presumably? Unless we offload some of our loan players (If we can?). Yeah, although Neil indicated maybe taking over the contract of one for the season (Fosu?) and sending one back (Kilkenny?) was not out of the question. Both Bournemouth and Kilkenny must think he's getting absolutely nothing out of this season and would be better somewhere else www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/stoke-city-january-transfer-news-7965730“There are ways and means of fixing that. In some instances, the parent club has the power to dissolve the loan, you also have ones that you could potentially make permanent until the end of the season depending on their contract status. There are also ones you could potentially purchase and extend their contract beyond this season.
“There are other ones who may feel they might be better served going somewhere else to get more game time, so they can look for an alternative loan. There are many ways to find a solution.”
That doesn’t mean that Stoke will only operate in the loan market.
“Not necessarily,” said Neil. “There are dynamics that we won’t be fully in control about. There might be teams wanting to buy three of our players, there might be teams wanting to buy none of our players. That will naturally have a bearing on what we need to do and what we would want to do. There are a lot of dynamics at play for every club and knowing the transfer window as I do, everyone will wait until the last couple of days and then scramble about as they always do, which is always good.
“I don’t like that part of it. It frustrates the life out of me. I’d rather get in and get my business done and then we can get players in who we want to get in and get working and get the team going. The last few days of the window are always hectic and there’s always something thrown up that you need to deal with.
“I’m hoping it becomes a really organised window and if it’s an organised window, it’s good for teams that plan – and we’ve done a hell of a lot of planning over the last little bit. Whether those plans come to fruition or not remains to be seen.”

To get into the playoffs, a team ultimately needs to go on a good run of form. We are incapable of doing this and have been since the relegation season.
A goalkeeper is a must, yes.
However, we also need a central defensive midfielder (or Laurent to become the player I assumed he would be).
We also need a left sided centre back with mobility if we are ever to make 532 effective.
We also need a target man who can hold the ball up properly in dangerous areas.
We then need Powell to work well with Baker to come to form and one of Gayle/Brown/Campbell to start scoring.
A goalkeeper would be nice, but a lot needs to happen to stand a chance of leaving this awful league.

Bonham has been ok last couple of games but I’d like to think a good keeper would actually stop “situations” that lead to us conceding soft goals.
Crossley, Sorensen, Asmir types help get the team organised as well as being bloody good keepers.
We need a good keeper desperately.

A good keeper is worth way more than just shot stopping or cross catching.

It's looking like it should be compulsory to use winky faces and things if you're making a joke or being satirical here
