I can't help you with that one I'm afraid mate, it'll be Foster, BJR, Badge or knype who can hopefully explain.
You don’t need to name drop the four most popular posters on the board thank you.
Pleasure Badge, an absolute pleasure ...

I see the Vietnamese are the latest nationalities to be getting on boats and trying to get here.ITV News ran a story last night on the subject which was showing how easy it is for smugglers to collect £3k per person. More for the old RAF site at Manston for processing then on to Rwanda

More for the old RAF site at Manston for processing then on to Rwanda I’m sure Rwanda will be such a deterrent. They’re willing to risk death in the crossing but Rwanda of course, would be so much worse than drowning.

By not creating safe routes to the UK the government have made people smuggling a lucrative business therefore they will be pushing people to want to come here. If they didn't need to organize with people smugglers to get here then there wouldn't be as many people coming here.
Why haven't the government removed all the benefits they receive? This would be a simple deterrent so why aren't they doing this instead of wasting billions to get a couple hundred people out the country. It's a scam and you can guarantee Tory donors are getting a nice pay check from this ridiculous scheme

Without predgudice let's look at the Rwanda Policy costs
UK Government entered into an agreement with Rwanda Government and agreed the following schedule of payments to accept Migrants that have come to UK in an unauthorised way.
There are currently about 56,000 Migrants that UK determine fall into that category
Economic and Transformation Integration Fund £370 Million of which £220 Million has been paid and a further £50 Million will be paid in April 2024 2025 and 2026
Once the number of Migrants that Rwanda receive reaches 300 there will be another payment of £150 Million due
So £520 Million to set up the Pilot Scheme for 300 Migrants so this is where the £1.8 Million per migrant is being bandied about, actually £1.733 Million
In addition to the £520 Million ETIF Fund UK will pay £20,000 per Migrant plus £151,000 per Migrant to cover the cost of Asylum Processing and Operational Costs
Let's be optimistic and say if Flights begin as projected in July and by end of the year 1,000 migrants of the 56,000 and counting are removed it will cost
ETIF 520,000,000 £20,000 X 1,000 =. 20,000,000 £151,000 X 1,000=. 151,000,000 TOTAL 691,000,000
Or £691,000 per Migrant
Of course this doesn't include the UK processing costs, hiring Aircraft and Security etc
Is this a serious solution?

It's beyond insane isn't it? Even if it works (which it won't). When the asylum system was last working properly in 2015/16, the 'unit cost' of each asylum case was £7,062. This includes all the costs associated with it - from accommodation, to interviews with Home Office caseworkers, to challenging legal appeals.

The Rwanda policy is as good an advert as you'll ever need for electoral reform in the UK. Without electoral reform there is nothing which we can do from preventing such pointless policies in the future.
Will Starmer put his money where his mouth is and push for PR and HoL reform? Or will he give a few sound bites but keep the status quo.
I think we all know the answer.

I worked in Denmark. Truly wonderful place. Probably the best place I've ever lived, if only for the short time I was there. You're absolutely correct it is a fabulous country I went there for the first time to the University in Aarhus and then over the years went back many times on holiday. I was told by a Danish friend some years back that the country was having problems with immigration. This seems to be borne out by the fact that this once liberal country now has some of the harshest policies in Europe.

Rwanda 200 Five people died attempting to cross the channel today, when each of them got in that boat this morning, they knew for a fact that their death was a real possibility but even that, didn't act as a deterrent did it? How on earth are these fuckwits in government being allowed to embarass the UK on the international stage, whilst at the same time blowing half a billion of tax payer's money in the process?

Because it makes them look big and tough. In reality it doesn't address any of the problems. But that's not the point. Of course it doesn't Joe but most Politicians don't see beyond their next Election and therefore have no regard for the absurdity of the long-term consequences of their decisions In UK Australia is seen as the Gold Standard for controlling irregular immigration and often trott out disingenuous "facts" There are currently more than 50,000 "irregular" immigrants in UK which the Government consider as candidates to be sent to Rwanda even though they logistically can only accept a fraction of that number. That doesn't include more than 100,000 who are not classified as "irregular" by law but are awaiting a decision on their status. The number grows by about 50,000 each year and the misguided belief is that if a fraction are sent to Rwanda they will stop coming. So what happens to the 50,000 "irregular" immigrants minus the fraction that may possibly be sent to Rwanda? Will they be held in detention centres that UK doesn't have nor does UK have Nauru and Manus Island. What is never mentioned when discussing Australia as the Gold Standard is the NZYQ Case which the Australian Courts ruled it was unlawful to hold immigrants, no matter their status indefinitely in detention The average detention in Australia of immigrants is about 3 years, not much different to UK awaiting Refugee Status except they are not held in detention but housed in Hotel Accommodation The whole thing is a farce but as said earlier those Politicians making idiotic decisions are unlikely to be answerable for them

They chose to lock children up in concentration camps to show how tough they were. All this isolates one simple yet poignant factor. That being, most illegal Immigrants arrive by air. Many are people who's visas just ran out. BUT most of the people I refer to are Irish or British and that doesn't generate the same emotive response.
