They're arrogant, annoying tosspots who invoke rapid piss boiling with their anarchist approach to protest.
They're also absolutely correct.

I'm not the one who started a thread to be a cheerleader for taking the law into your own hands. It will all look like handbags compared with the real Mad Max scenario everyone's signed up to. I'd get used to it. Cheerleader😂you are funny Yes you are. One minute you go on and on about supporting the police yet you start a thread whose main purpose is to cheer on videos like the French one above. Do you think it's s good idea that members of the public take the law into their own hands? I don't mean just for this either I mean any offence. As I pointed out on page one your position is untenable but you just keep throwing petrol on your own fire. If it is okay for this then its okay for anything and you have no moral high ground. Just let the law do its job. You're just angry about something you've seen on TV.

As I’ve already said on the thread it’s criminal damage but our soft police force do fuck all about it

You see that's just not true the Met Commissioner said just yesterday the force has arrested 651 people while responding to Just Stop Oil stunts since October 1, And what will happen to them? The law will apply. Unless as I keep pointing out to you that its okay to have our own rough justice. If so I'm angry about this mindless vandalism:- news.sky.com/story/sewage-pumped-into-sea-turns-idyllic-cornwall-cove-brown-in-dramatic-footage-described-as-shocking-12735013This is also going unpunished and frankly the rivers and seas of Britain impact me more than tomato soup on the Van Gogh. With your support I'd like to sort out the various executives of these firms. The law clearly isn't working for me so I'll do it myself. Sauce for the goose and all that.

I met one of them in a pub in York the other week. He was about to catch the train down London to bang a drum and probably glue himself to something.
Could see why he was pissed about things but dunno if the methods will make things better or not. He was a nice bloke and very informed tbh.

Doesn't surprise me at all that he was a nice bloke and highly informed. I'd bet most of them are. Contrast that with those going on EDL protests or similar events, neither of which characteristics will apply to the vast majority of participants. It's such a shame that our way of life is so ingrained that anyone who disrupts it to point out that we're effectively committing slow suicide by pursuing that lifestyle is treated with such hatred. When you think about it dispassionately it's crazy what we're doing. And nobody in power seems to want to try to prevent the inevitable disaster.

That’s awful, but I expect they don’t care. It’s ironic they bleat on about being denied choices or opportunity, yet do exactly the same to others as a consequence of their actions. The fella was right, they will alienate themselves and as a result the importance behind their message will be lost.

I have some sympathy because aside from pulling stunts like this, what can people actually do.

A bit like drug addicts where they are to be understood and helped(which is your end oil/fossil fuel user) whilst dealers (oil companies etc) should be targeted. That way they influence the change needed at supply and production of energy rather than affecting the people they should be looking to keep onside. They can still get their message across and retain public support.

This is why I think we're fucked. Too many people just don't believe anything bad will happen re climate change. If they did, they would respond favourably, just as they did with your example above.

News today that two weeks of 'intense protests' are planned over Christmas. Not entirely sure what the difference between a normal protest and intense one is? I guess the frequency.
The Just Stop Oil spokesperson has said that they are going to be as obstructive as possible, walking as slow as they can etc.
Meanwhile Sgt Chubsley from the Met, has confirmed that the Met are well prepared for the chaos. Chubsley, who previously failed in petitioning McDonald's to reintroduce Super Size menu options, said of the planned protests "Listen, we're prepared. At the Met, we're always prepared. Over the summer we have been practicing and preparing for this. We have learnt the cancan, the Macarena, even some dubstep and grime. We're prepared". After Sgt Chubsley was reminded that this wasn't an upcoming pride march, rather protests bordering on civil unrest, he qualified his statement by explaining in great lengths, even including a protractor to demonstrate his working, that the police are bound by red tape and are usually unable to deal with protesters, dangerous criminals and terrorists. Chubsley quipped "too much paperwork and not enough Sausage and Egg McMuffins".
