Started get annoyed with this. I'm Ajax on my save, kept a relatively small squad so I can manage my players easier and keep morale up.
Got 17yr old kids, never played a first team game in my u18s squad, moaning because they're not in my champions league 25. Told them they're not good enough (they really aren't ready for 1st team) and wouldn't back down.
This really shouldn't even be an issue.

Update on my save. Second season, 2nd in league 6pts behind Feyenoord (I did win title 1st season). Through to last 16 of Champions League, drawn Man U.
Sold Brobbey to Psg for 40million and Bergwijn to Man C for 71million. Bought Tezegal for 9million.
Not really signing stars, just keep buying youngsters from big sides that aren't wanted to keep fees down.

I needed a AMC so thought I’d try this lad. Couldn’t get him interested in a straight forward transfer but got him in on loan with an option. He’s transformed my midfield. Cracking tip mate nice one! Omar Shakur from Atalanta is another bargain. Martin Baturini and Theo, zidanes son are all pretty cheap and difference makers for me. I couldnt get Zvonarek to sign permantely after his loan finished and he since got to Augsburg in Bundersliga 2 which is a bit weird. I did sign that Baturina you recommended and he's started the season well. He seems to deliver excellent corners and Souttar is laping it up. I signed a cracking right back Filippo Terracciano in my first season initially on loan then permenant when I got promoted for about 1.2 mill and he's been consistently excellent and he's chipped in with quite a few assists so I'd recommend him.

I just won the World Cup with France. However I applied for the England job before the final and had to accept it or it went elsewhere so I had to add another manager to take over England while I played the final against Brazil before dramatically quitting France and reapplying for the now vacant England job. Transfer wise I’ve pretty much spent nothing as it all young players who are now completing their loans at their previous clubs before joining me. I have signed that Muryk or whatever his name is at Chelsea from Shakttar on a free but he won’t be joining until Christmas. Theo broke his ankle at the World Cup and is out until October and pickfords a cock who demanded a 500% increase in wages and is now up for transfer. On the positives just beat Arsenal on penalties in the charity shield. And I won the league and champions league with a staggering one nil win over Bayern in extra time after being battered for 115 minutes nicking a goal and hanging on.

I was 5 points behind Feyenoord with 4 games to go. I beat Feyenoord in Dutch cup final, then Feyenoord lost 2, drew 1 and then won final game. I won all 4 games giving me the title and completing my domestic treble

Used to play FM years ago when it was Championship Manager with a group of mates crammed round a desktop pc.
Have started playing the much slimmed down Fm23 on mobile so please don't judge me.
Anyway currently doing a save with Scarborough. Took me 2 seasons to get to Conference. 1 season to get to League two. 2 seasons to get to league one. 2 seasons get to championship. Also won 2 papa brown trophies.
In my second championship season now but think it will take me another to get promotion. Still have a very small budget in contrast to the other teams.
Enjoying my save so far. Aiming for champions league glory lol

Can recommend this skin for any avid FM players:
It hides the number attributes and focuses on player preferred moves and a graphical representation of skills and attributes, rather than numerical values - closely simulating the types of data a real life manager would see when viewing recruitment reports and data analytics.
Takes a while to get used to but is excellent when you are used to it. Totally changes the way you play the game IMO.

Does anyone care about all this shit? Personally I don't give a toss about it all, infact I switch all the matchday stuff off & just have the old fashioned "Campbell runs down the wing" bar to keep me uptodate with what is happening.
The only thing I wish FM would add, and it's something I can only remember being in two management games (One back in the 80/90s on the Master System/Mega Drive whose name escapes me, and the other on the Playstation's "LMA Manager") and that is to let me build/upgrade the stadium. It only needs some simple picture of the ground & the option to convert a terrace to seating, stick a new roof on, add some executive boxes, fill in a corner etc... Would anyone else want something like that or is it just me?

Can’t remember the name but one used to let you add kiosks, hot dog stands, etc. The major FM update I’d like to see is on the set piece screen so you could set up priorities for your players in a similar way to penalties and free kicks I.e. I shouldn’t have to change my entire set pieces manually every time I replace a player with good jumping reach / heading / marking with a player with the aerial prowess of Warwick Davies.

Just currently on a save on the console version, I'm managing Dolny Kubin in Slovakia and they're slowly becoming one of the random foreign teams I want to look out for in real life!
I've got them promoted to the Slovakia First, and we sit pretty in 4th in the first season so far. But is there any way of breaking Slovan Bratislava's and Stredas stranglehold on the league? I can sign high potential players who are young on loan, but it doesn't seem to be quite enough yet and I can't afford them as the transfer budget is £25,000.
I'm hoping if I can finish 3rd and get Conference League, that'll give me enough of a cash injection to challenge for the title next season, but even then I think it's going to be a challenge.

On saves like that I’d suggest getting your scouts to focus their search on players with expiring contracts or unattached players. You probably don’t need to spend a penny to qualify for Europe or win the league. Invest any money on youth and training facilities, build the club up over a couple of seasons until you can have a proper tilt in Europe.

I've been hammering the loan market this season, secured Top 6 as the league has now started the part of the season where it splits into two. The game is destroying me with conveniently timed injuries to my best players. I'm currently 4th and within 2 points of the Conference League and 3 off of Europa. The board keep denying my requests to improve the youth level and training facilities which isn't helping things, but happily added itself 500 seats to the stadium. Next season I need to sort the scouts out on unattached and expiring. I don't want to keep using other team's talent all the time. The unattached players I've tried to sign before have had huge wage demands (for my club) so I've had to walk away from a lot of deals as it is.

If you can I’d try and negotiate the club philosophy to developing young players. If they agree you’ll be more likely to get improvement requests approved. I’d be tempted to switch the scouts asap to see if you can knock a few for pre-season. Also, if wages are a problem reduce your scouting budget to the minimum so it switches to your transfer budget, the reduce your transfer budget and put it into wages. The other (time consuming) option is to go into the world transfers screen each week, check the youth intake and offer loads of trials. You can poach some good young players without paying compensation as they’re not on contracts at this stage until they sign for the club the intake is from.

A change in tactics for the league split managed to secure me 3rd spot and the Conference League. I've got a new head of youth development who is better than the old one. I will have to try and negotiate the club philosophy as you say, especially as I'm only allowed 5 players in a match day squad who are not Slovakian. I've not started pre season yet so I've got time to fiddle around with stuff. Will need plenty of players for rotation.

This details the rules around home grown status. Some countries have different definitions so you may be able to get foreign youngsters qualifying if they become home grown or nationalised. Good luck with next season!
