I think he may chuck Smallbone in. At whose expense, I don't know?
Maybe Laurent?

Hard to recall since 1967 when I I first went a season starting with such apathy , trepidation and lack of optimism I didn't realise you spent a large period of your life in a coma benji. Glad you're better now.........

He will go with
Bursik
Clarke Wilmot Flint Fox Tymon
Baker Laurent Smallbone
Ty Brown
He wont trust Taylor. He wont drop campbell for Gayle - think we need brown in the team more than campbell at the moment
Going for a 2-1 win. Brown early goal. And gayle off the bench late on.

I have a feeling that Flint will be more of an option from the bench, either to tighten things up or as an option from set pieces.

Just a personal observation that will be lost in another extended thread, but I have to say that this pre season is probably the one I have been least interested in in 60 years of following Stoke. When they line up for this first game I will have no idea who half of the players are. It will be a little like some strange guest team pretending to be Stoke City. Hoping for the best but it looks like its going to need quite a transformation in our fortunes to get me interested in what's going on this season. Exactly where I'm at. I've not renewed so I'll be picking and choosing games (I'd rather allocate season ticket funds towards another holiday). Maybe a year without a season ticket will get the juices flowing again next year, who knows?

That's exactly how I feel after following the club for a similar length of time. I've got little or no enthusiasm for the coming season, and more than a little concern as to how things will turn out.

Expect a back 3 on Saturday of rcb - Flint cb - Jags lcb - Wilmot Looks like a disaster waiting to happen. Taylor will be ahead of Flint or Jags on the right. This is what I hoped for but apparently that's what they've been working on in training. Hoping MON has a change of heart at some point this week.

Really feel as though we could be in a mess come the end of August judging by our pre season games. What gets me more than anything is i think we have the squad to be much better than we are & the root of our problems come from the manager & them above him. Until we see some changes in that direction i can't see us getting any better in fact things could get a lot worse.

You're not a supporter then 😉 I guess not Hopefully we'll do better than expected/feared but if not then a mid-season managerial change could possibly improve things - although knowing the club's success rate in hiring good managers there's no guarantee.

Had a chat earlier with my loyal Stokie dad (96 in Sept) about the season. His recollections of teams and players names is incredible, he said "is that tall lad at the back fit". I'm not optimistic.
2-1 us. 🙂

This game has Afobe goals written all over it. No game ever has had that Even if he does score , of course some will make a fuss, one person will no doubt enjoy it but means nothing.

Looks a better side than last year to me. Looks even better with arguably our best two players to return from injury at some point. Not sure about all the negativity. Period of bedding in and getting to know each other looks the only issue to me

Just looking at Millwalls side they do look quite strong on paper, Still think we’ll end our awful record there this time and win 2-0

Late deflected Afobe goal gives Millwall the win and Rowetts post match interview is overshadowed by him tugging himself off over his scrapbook he keeps about all the times he was brilliant

Zian Flemming looks like he could be a right find, his record in Holland is excellent.

If Mon doesn’t start with Gayle and Smallbone, he wants fucking certifying!!! Gayle has only been at the club a week. From a, who's the best player point of view, I would have no problem throwing him in. But that is not the way it usually works. Smallbone a bit longer, but I can see both coming in around the 60 minute mark too. I’d start Brown and Gayle up front.

Much as I appreciate Brown and what his effort does to open up some channels in the opposition back line I think I may go with Campbell.
