Line up next week. Bonham Clarke Taylor Flint Wilmot Tymon Baker Laurent Smallbone Campbell Brown No, no Brown please. Why are we trying so hard playing him every match? As much as he is hardworking, things just won't work if he's around. That’s the team MON will go with. Can’t see him not playing his top scorer from last season

At least we scored and hopefully there are no injuries, but can there be a worse organised midfield in the top 3 divisions. They look as though they don’t know how and where they are supposed to be playing and have just given up. I’d say a worse organised team in truth, I’d honestly have Lambert, Jones,Hughes and even Rowette back over this idiot.

Slow and laboured in possession. Midfield static and unable to receive the ball when the CBs have it. Wingback system doesn’t work with these players. Strikers can’t hold the ball up. No patterns of play, movement or anything resembling a game plan. They look unfit (despite these games being ‘all about fitness’. We may as well send Millwall the 3 points and not bother showing up. We’ll find ourselves in big trouble very quickly this season, and until the manager is relieved of his duties, we won’t improve. Hard to build fitness playing at walking pace.

Sure we will have the usual “it was good to give the players a run out”, “it’s minutes in the legs”, “we are stepping things up”……guess what Stoke? The season starts in a week and you are a million miles behind the pace. What a crap pre season this has been.

Baker’s overall game last year was decent last year, but was brought to worship by many for the sheer number of goals he was getting. That number was a fluke for him based on his other seasons. He won’t be getting that this year.
He’ll still have a decent season though, he just needs to find the right partnership to compliment him.

Line up next week. Bonham Clarke Taylor Flint Wilmot Tymon Baker Laurent Smallbone Campbell Brown This 532 formation is half the problem though. If we went: Bonham Clarke Wilmot Jags Tymon Laurent Baker Smallbone Campbell Brown Gayle With the players we currently have this then turns into a much more creative team. Obviously you'd want a proper left back and target man to impriove it but it looks much better than this shit show.

Stating the obvious but today was exactly the type of game where we needed a decent target man who could hold the ball higher up the pitch, giving the wing backs and midfielders time to get forward.
Also a little concerning over pre-season to see teams get behind us, cut the ball back low and have players running onto it from outside the box (Fleetwood's goal + a couple of times today)
For positives, Smallbone looks to have something about him...
Finally, the Hearts TV coverage was excellent with their pre-match build-up, analysis, commentary. If we ever end uo doing our media in-house rather than piping in the Radio Stoke commentary, Hearts would be a good example to follow.

No Brown put Gayle in, Brown can’t trap a bag of cement His goal return last year puts him as our best striker despite what he can and can't do with building materials Your right but he won’t be this year. Gayle and a fit Campbell got to start or new striker and Gayle. Brown great sub but not a starter for me

They seem so certain we couldn’t cope with a back 4 it’s frightening!

I think Brown has the work rate we need away from home especially so starts for me. Last 20 we looked a far better side though despite the sloppy goal we conceded.

Line up next week. Bonham Clarke Taylor Flint Wilmot Tymon Baker Laurent Smallbone Campbell Brown This 532 formation is half the problem though. I agree but neither of those front 3 looks suited to playing in the middle. If we sign Delap/Davis to play in the middle and rotate brown, Campbell Hayle and dwp to play the wide roles. That would be a much more balanced side If we went: Bonham Clarke Wilmot Jags Tymon Laurent Baker Smallbone Campbell Brown Gayle With the players we currently have this then turns into a much more creative team. 2nd half better than the first, but not by much. We create so little it's frightening and very flat shape between defence and midfield. If you can call it a shape. Millwall next where the 'its just a friendly' does not count. Will we be ready?

Miserable for an hour, then the subs came on and we had movement and a bit of quality all of a sudden. Small green shoots in that last 20 mins or so, still need a keeper badly. If I was O'Niell I would be hastily arranging a game for midweek, theres lots more work needed.

Not overly surprising given the number of players that have come in to the midfield this preseason.

We need a new keeper even if it means having four keepers on the books and Smallbone has to start.
I hope we have been practicing with a flat back four because if/when we bring in a target man this wingback system has to go and we revert to 433.

Has he even tried 4 at the back in pre season?

Sitting here with a pint, head in my hsnds and wondering to my self what the fucking hell is going on at Stoke... Get rid of MoN ASAP he has done enough damage to this team and its long suffering fans/supporters. If the clubs aim was to sell Stoke City to fans from outside the are of S-o-T then it has failed on every level. I feel sorry in my heart for those poor souls that have been mis-sold a season ticket. Time to go MoN you have shown to the World that you are devoid of any football nouse and that you must really hate Stoke fans for serving uo this derge week in, week out, month in, mongh out, year in ,year out. Please MoN just fuck off now to allow us to try and enjoy what bit if love we have for our club....

We have good choices then and will be far more dangerous

Double whammy. In behind Bursik should save it Goal Wank There's just too many like this with Bursik, isn't there? Although seems churlish to pick up on any one particular failing after watching the last 3 friendlies!

At the moment most of our goals this season are coming from OGs, Pens. & dead ball situations.

He's the worst stopper I've ever seen.

Is Campbell's goal around anywhere Grapey? That was a quality move and finish and if we can repeat that sort of play on a regular basis, then we're going to be fine.

Look how Nottingham Forests season changed when they changed manager, we can only hope for the same next year. This squad has playoff potential, the manager however…is only good for keeping you in the division and nothing more. I think he'll struggle to keep us in the division of I'm honest. Dithering will cost us again and failure to do what we could all see (well not quite all) needed to happen will see us even further behind the trend

Played so much better though
