It is though. It's a massive day actually. So pleased! Joe Allen was Captain of the side and club for a reason. He is a massively respected international player who has just helped Wales reach the World Cup Finals. Only an "idiot" would call him an "crap" End of! Yes he was an experienced pro and should have been an example. He wasn't. He was a headless chicken who caused more problems than he solved on the field and has been a curse since he got here. One of the worst signings for us in the last decade.

This really is turning into one of the best transfer windows ever! The fact he signed at the beginning of our downfall is just a really unfortunate coincidence not down to Allen. I love how people go on about him being a scapegoat, like that's the only reason people wanted him gone. I have never rated him, he ran a lot and that's mainly it. He wasn't known for his goals, passing, strength or anything like just running. The scapegoat phrase seems to used by the people who liked him because they run out of his positives after "he put a shift in". Is it - how do you know? The players we have signed can only dream of a career as good as Allen's. Fingers crossed they can be more effective than Allen who hasn't played his best stuff for us, that can't be denied. Comments such as 'crap like Allen' tells me more about the people who spout it than the bloke himself. Very ordinary.

Joe will be sorely missed. He’s been loyal to the club, a player who wants the ball and still has an engine and a great football brain!! If you don’t agree try watching football you might learn a thing or two!!!!!!!

Terrible is way over the top. He was good when played further forward, given a free rein to drift into the box and score. He could do this when surrounded by better players, but his contributions were diminished as the quality of squad eroded and he had to play a more disciplined defensive role, which he is no good at because he can’t tackle - the same happened to Charlie Adam. The main differences were Adam was a terrible tackler and a trouble maker. I wish we’ll. I can't agree. He played about 30 yards ahead of the midfield and didn't link them or the striker. He was awful there. I didn’t say he linked the play, I simply stated that he popped up in the penalty area and chipped in with 10 goals in two seasons in the premier league, which was ok but not great for midfield player. He was MOM more than once in those two seasons, for what it is worth (since the main purpose of that award is for the sponsors to get photo-op). He was much less effective when he played deeper and only scored 10 games in four seasons in the championship. He’s a Lone Ranger that can be effective when surrounded by good players like Bojan, Arnautovic, Shaqiri, Ramsey and Bale, who make him look better, but very mediocre when playing alongside players of similar ability.

You didn't but he should have been linking play. We were awful to watch and him scoring the odd goal papered over how ineffective he was there and how bad the team was.

If you don’t agree try watching football you might learn a thing or two!!!!!!! Loyal, because we made him one of the highest paid players in the fucking league Wanting Ball but could never control it and if he did he couldn't fucking pass it. Has an engine, never been disputed, covers every blade of grass but rarely in the the right place at the right time. Footballing brain, laughable but anyone who has got away with the above for so long, well I can't argue.

Expected of course, but nevertheless I was sad to read this news when I woke up. I suspect it'll be a case of- 'you don't know what you got till it's gone'. I really hope he goes to Swansea. He'll be appreciated there both by the fans and their progressive manager Bye Joe, A lot of us will miss you. Very best of luck.

Its quite funny when you listen to the boo boys. They said the same about Whelan, Walters and Nzonzi and others and now sing their praises. Maybe the same will happen to Joe, what we will miss though is his ability to win the ball back from the opposition, so somebody will need to step up! We've been missing that since he signed. He won the ball a lot. The ammount of times the opposition had the very next touch was truly amazing though.

Thanks for everything Joe.
Thanks for being a mainstay in a team that slumped into the most limp-wristed, avoidable relegation going. Thanks for continuing to be a mainstay in a team that then almost got flushed down the shitter into league 1 Thanks for all those dogshit tackles on the edge of our own box Thanks for having the positional discipline of a child with ADHD Thanks for having a first touch as if you’re being constantly electrocuted. Thanks for being able to pass the ball to everyone except people wearing Stoke shirts.
Absolutely dogshit signing and fully represents one of the wankest eras of our recent history.

We're not lucky enough for crap like Allen to sulk and not want to play Unnecessary Bayern, He tends to like threads to be about him and not the subject title, thought you would have realised that by now Jimmy.

Unfortunately Joe’s time at the club coincided with our very dramatic decline - far from all his fault of course and possibly would have been worse without him. But feels to me like the end of a chapter for all parties and hopefully a positive new beginning all round.
