Three year contract incoming? It should be 12 month with an option if we are consistent with our new strategy given Joe is over 30. Maybe that is the sticking point on why he hasn't re-signed?

It's about the single most depressing thing to happen to us for some time.

I agree with Bayern, tidy player, but really doesn't affect games at all. We really are a charity case.

Great, another year of complete incompetence incoming it seems.
I’m seriously starting to grow tired of football in general anyway and watching this fucking idiot running around aimlessly, losing the ball, making stupid tackles on the edge of the box for no reason, being unable to hold his position or pass a ball to a teammate is rapidly accelerating that disinterest, the bloke is absolute dogshit and has been for six years.
You’re not telling me in the entire football league there’s no player that can replace Joe Allen, in fact if we release him and do not replace him we’ll be in an infinitely better position, why do we even employ a scouting and transfer team if we’ll just re-sign the same shit players.

So do I - which makes it hard to see anything other than Allen, Baker, Powell being the three in the bulk of games. It's then hard to see us having the space to bring in anyone else to offer us some more balance in there, either on the pitch or financially - especially with Vrancic still here, and Sawyers maybe (probably?) on the way too All seems a bit stale, but hopefully at least we can move Clucas on as he enters his final 12 months. Where are we expecting the big changes to impact the starting XI - will a new RB/RWB and target man really cut it as game-changing?No where near.

I think Monkey is bang on n'all.
& If he does, it's all about the deal.
& that being said, we're a better squad with him in it than without for my money £50k a week.

Unfortunately, a lot of folks seem to be correct, it looks like he's staying.
Another season of an unbalanced midfield. Can't fucking wait.

I just don’t get the potential signing of both Allen and Sawyers. We’re clearly missing a ball winner in the middle. It just makes no sense. We’ll just get bullied. One I can understand as both are decent in their own right but the balance is all wrong.

One I can understand as both are decent in their own right but the balance is all wrong. Midfield has been the main issue for this club for 6/7 years since NZonzi left basically. No balance, no-one in charge, lightweight and bullied on almost a weekly basis and still no signs of addressing this.

Midfield balance is all wrong and has been for a few years now, with the personnel we have on board so far, it ain't going to change, against Coventry we were absolutely murdered through the middle.

I'm really starting to regret getting a season ticket for next season, I want to support the club but the noises coming out regarding signings is so depressing, there's absolutely nothing to look forward to next season.
Hopefully its all crap and we sign what we need and not the same unbalanced useless midfield we had last season.

Something doesn't quite add up at the moment. The Sentinel have run a couple of articles saying that O'Neill is keen to change the make-up of midfield.
So far Powell & Vrancic have extended. Thompson has signed a new deal and Baker has only been here for six months.
We are supposedly trying to re-sign Allen and possibly Sawyers, so that only leaves Clucas who still has a year left.
How exactly does that leave any room to change midfield?
I'm confused.

I like Joe Allen, gives 100% and we play better usually when he is in the side, but
Sometimes you have got to admit as a manager that thinks aren't working and you need to change things even though you don't want to.
Joe's time at Stoke has been dire. I'm not blaming him, it has been more what goes on around him, but nevertheless it is time for him to move on and try something/somebody else.
Thanks Joe, best of luck.
