Ideally the England manager should be English but with Potter and Carsley as the alternatives, they've gone for the manager with the CV to back him up.

It's a sad indictment of our system that as a supposed major footballing nation, we can't produce a homegrown coach capable of doing the job. I think it will be many years before an Englishman is coaching Germany. However Tuchel should do a good job although ideally I would have preferred Klopp.

i did think that after the failed attempts at foreign managers with Sven and definitely Capello they would stick too English managers, Potter was available, Howe was highly fancied for the job, I believe Jim Gannon is getting fed up of selling second hand motors

I couldn't give a flying what his nationality is and I don't see why anyone else should care. If it bothers you that he's German then you are a bit pathetic. If he's the best man for the job that's all that matters.

At least he can't fall out with anyone over funding and crap like that but his ability to fall out with people is a worry. He can literally pick any English player that wants to play for him so he will have no excuses there. International football could suit him as he seems to struggle to settle anywhere but he does win trophies. It's all about him at international level and his ability to create a functioning team, he could be a good England manager. He's managed big players before too, he seems a solid choice and maybe we need a German to show us how to win in football
