It was deliberate and again, meek negative tactics from England in that game. They have Italy too much respect and sat back through the entire second half. When we could have been 4 up at half time and were a class above them all over the pitch, there was a huge gulf between the teams. It's our own negativity and lack of confidence when we play the elite teams that will do for us. We should have gone at Italy in the euro final, we should have been aggressive with France in the world cup and played more direct. But overall, yes this is an excellent squad, but if we can't win a tournament with this squad, will we ever? The time is now History tells us that even the great teams don't always win the biggest prizes. Puskas' Hungary 1954 Cruyff's Holland 1974 Socrates' Brazil 1982 And that some teams win tournaments when not being that great on paper. Italy last Euros and Greece come to mind. That’s cup football for you I guess. |

These aren’t even a poor side, far from it ….England are brutal and efficient these days I took my lads to the game. Macedonia were absolutely terrible. Stoke would likely beat them they were that bad. England pretty much played in neutral and didn’t even have to get into 1st gear. We’ve got some good players but the stand out for me was that Macguire and Gallagher are light years behind their teammates in terms of actual ability. A nice night though and the kids enjoyed it. |

What a week that's been.
5 Days in Malta for the game, then into Manchester for the game yesterday and finally back home this morning. Time for a couple of days rest before heading off to Glastonbury on Thursday.

Also thinks Harry Kane is shite, Haaland makes Man City worse (despite winning the champions league in his first season there and breaking scoring records) and that Tom Ince is quality. Just a few snippets of the workings of Bayerns football nous. |

We don't need to have that approach I don't believe we came out to sit right back and defend in the second half. We were pegged back by a tactically fluent side. And overall we defended well. And teams like Italy. I still wouldn't bat an eyelid if they got further than us next year. |

I'm gonna give up but thanks for posting it. If anyone else is watching it, if you've got a Smart TV or Chromecast, there's a UEFA.tv app so you might be able to watch it on your tele that way (although that's not working for me either). |
