Because no one is making that basic run across the defender to the near post as such Walker doesn't want to waste a cross

Bellingham just put a good ball in but Watkins was standing still

I think it's a consequence of years and years of sides playing 1 up top
In the past when 2 was the norm one striker would make that near post run with the other staying in the middle of the area or even dropping off
Now the one striker doesn't make that run because they don't want to leave no one in the midfield of the area

I like Walker but he's fucking infuriating to watch at times, countless opportunities to whip a ball in and he goes backwards and takes the safe option.
