I don't know all the ins and outs of this saga, but the guy is now apparently banned until January 2024. So Brentford will be deprived of the services of their main striker for half a season through no fault of their own. Surely there are issues of club discipline and breach of contract in play here. The player deserves every penalty or sanction they might give him. Lets see. Will Brentford throw the book at their most valuable asset?  It’s not exactly conducive to team morale when one player is getting preferential treatment. |

The player deserves every penalty or sanction they might give him. It depends on the disciplinary terms of his contract. The club could rightfully sanction him with a dock in wages for breaches committed while a Brentford player, but I'm not sure if that applies to those breaches committed before he joined Brentford. They should be able to just not pay his wages. He’s not able to fulfill his contract, he should just be kept on non-paid leave until he can come back. I’d say they should release him but then they lose money as well. |

I am not arguing against the club applying an appropriate penalty to him, just that Brentford will not throw the book at him, or terminate his contract, which was how I read the original post. Come January I doubt it will make much difference to whether another club wants to buy him or not. It will be, do we need a centre forward? Is Ivan Toney the player we want? Can we get him a bit cheaper? |

He'll be back playing again but the challenge is keeping him fit and trying to play as much football without it falling under official training. As for the second part of your post...
