If Burnley win their next two games, and Newcastle don't win their next, Newcastle are looking right back in trouble again. Last day of the season is Burnley at home to Newcastle. Mmm, don't think the powers that be would want nouveu riche Newcastle going down. Newcastle are already safe, unfortunately.

I’d personally prefer Everton to come down to be honest. Not because I don’t like them etc, but just because the Championship is such a boring league and their inclusion in it would at least be something novel.

There are no guarantees, and they'd be under a lot of pressure with every other club in the division seeing them as the big scalp.

I’m certain Benitez would have pulled them away from relegation. I really don’t think they thought it was a possibility when they sacked him

Torrid run-in as well.
As mentioned about, an awful appointment. He was never going to be the man for the job.

The dream team of Ince, Benny and Woods? Well yeah. Championship goals galore for the first two until they came to Stoke. Woods was seen as a good signing at the time too. He won player of the year twice at Brentford while in the Championship. Newcastle would suddenly find their pond of targets shrinking if they were relegated.

I really don’t think they thought it was a possibility when they sacked him Agent Spanish waiter's certainly would not have save them now his mission has taken them backward big time and boring the fans to death thus FL Everton like the late Hughes team no fight when it matters.

Anyway, they are safe unfortunately so not worth debating. You think Newcastle will still attract the kind of player they could in the Premier League from the Championship? If they win one of their next three home games I think they'll stay up, but after that they have Liverpool, Man City, Arsenal, and then Burnley away to end the season. It's not inconceivable that Everton, Burnley and Leeds will overtake them.

I think the money they would throw at it would be ludicrous and would bring plenty of players into their sights, all of them saying they were buying into 'the project' and definitely weren't there for the money. Oil rich Saudis are a different proposition to the Coates and the idiot Scholes and I don't think they'd be as deluded in believing the squad was any good.

I would imagine they will go for Rooney if they go down? I think that would be too big a risk. They’d need to get straight back up. That being said I’d be happy if Rooney was our manager next season.

It still wouldn't be the same type of player they'd attract in the Premier League though. Thomas Muller is apparently on their radar. I doubt he'd go from Bayern Munich to the Championship for 'the project.' Would Harry Kane go to Newcastle if Spurs don't qualify for the Champions League and Newcastle are still in the Premier League? There's a small chance. If Newcastle are in the Championship - no chance. Dominic Calvert-Lewin? Premiership, yes. Championship, no.
