I think ISIS have missed a massive trick with this one. Their main motive is for an Ialamic State? Feels like a massive mistake that they claimed the attack. Had they not it may have provoked an escalation between two majority Christian enemies. By claiming the attack I fear for the repercussions that minority Muslim communities may experience in Russia. Poor move in my opinion. Why? Aren't persecuted, disaffected minorities where they foment radicalisation and then recruit? Well I don't know enough about ISIS and their goals. But surely an escalation of conflict between 2 enemies is a better outcome as why would a terrorist attack on their country make them more likely to join ISIS. I've just realised there are 14 Muslims in Russia, so didn't realise they were such large numbers when writing this before.

Poor move in my opinion. That's on top of the fact that the Muslim republics within the Russian Federation have already suffered massively, their menfolk featuring disproportionately in Putin's bouts of conscription and being sent west to participate in frontal attacks against prepared positions. I was just looking there and didn't realise there were so many Muslims in Russia, I was expecting much less. It seems alot of the higher populated muslim reigions are on the east and south borders so maybe this affects the representation with them being closer to the conflict?

The russians often release similar videos of them doing this to Ukrainians btw.

Dagestan and Chechnya have gotten pretty close to breaking away in the past but Putin has managed to keep them onside by giving a great deal of autonomy to ruling warlords. A crackdown by Russian authorities on minorities that might follow a terrorist attack would play into the narrative that the only place you are safe is amongst your brothers in a caliphate and therfore yield recruits or even tip the balance towards a breakaway state. I'm not sure the Russian and Ukranian army knocking lumps out of each other in the Donbas would achieve any of that.

Well ISIS channels released bodycam footage of the sick attack. Seems like they really are to blame. Without sounding to horrendous I don’t see it as sick in a way, ruSSia have slaughtered hundreds of thousands worldwide and to date are still doing the exact same, it’s only now karma is returning to bite them back on home soil. Excuse my ignorance regarding Russian geopolitics and the relevant history over the past 100 years. I know some of the basics etc. However I've never understood how there has never been a proper concerted effort for a major uprising and revolution to rid themselves of authoritarian power. Or are the Russian people that down trodden that they just accept this miserable existence licking boots. Putin getting an 88% approval rating in his latest rigged election. Crazy.
But one thing is does remind me is that countries that willingly hand over more and more power to their governments or worse organisations like the WEF, WHO etc are fucking mental.
We should pay very close attention because slowly but surely this is the way even the western world is heading from what I can see. Those who willingly hand away their freedoms in the name of protection don't deserve either. Famous quote I think by someone far brighter than me. Whoever it was they ain't wrong.
Or maybe 1945 till round about now was the golden age and from here on in the world is destined to become a more authoritarian and miserable place. Just musing.....

I've read a few books on russian history now and the common thread seems to be "and then it got worse". One thing I found interesting was the idea of " Good Tsar, Bad Boyars", which is happening again now. Can't pretend to remotely understand the whole thing though. You're too right, it's scary the direction countries & voters are sleepwalking in. A big part of modern russia (which you see in propaganda all the time) is the idea that you can't trust institutions so either just believe your supreme leader, or assume everyone they're all as bad as each other so you may as well not take sides. We're seeing it in the US now when people "both sides" everything, no matter how different they are.

I got talking to two Russians on Saturday, moved from Moscow to Northwich to get away from Putin’s regime. From what they told me the entire country know exactly what’s going on, they’ve even protested but they told me it’s the middle/elderly aged that are pro Putin. I had to ask what their thoughts were relating to Ukraine and told that they have lots of Ukrainian friends and it’s not wise to bring it up in conversation at home.

Oryx just added their 15,000th russian lost vehicle source. That includes 2,856 tanks, 3,677 infantry fighting vehicles, 706 self-propelled artillery, 106 aircraft and 135 helicopters. Unbefuckinglievable.

I think the Ukrainians should start ratcheting up drone attacks on government buildings in Moscow. Really ramp up the pressure that Putin must be under. Russian civic unrest will be his undoing

Roughly the 2 year anniversary of the russian terrorist army murdering hundreds of civilians in Bucha.
Putin rewarded them with medals.
I met a survivor a while back, it was heartbreaking to hear his story.

Russian civic unrest will be his undoing How do you stop it backfiring? I think hitting the refineries like they're doing could be smart. Russians will get unhappy if petrol goes sky high, and it's not the same emotional punch as seeing your city under attack. Feeling like my home is under attack would probably make me dig in.

Some big claims around the Crimea hits last night. Zero visual confirmation from what I’ve seen though to back it up. Which is sad. Military comms sites in Sevastopol ? That but 2 landing ships as well. It seems like the comms site was hit well but the ships look ok sadly.

Seems a stretch and to me it looks like a very well executed terror attack that was responded to woefully. And it’ll be great for ISIS as the images have been spread far and wide and will help them to recruit more people. Wankers.

The one unusual thing about this terror attack is that normally ISIS fighters don't allow themselves to be arrested. They wear suicide vests and blow themselves up if they look like being apprehended. Putin will no doubt try to blame Ukraine. Politically it is much better for him that way.

I'm not here to discuss the rights and wrongs of the war but surely if they think about it logically, it is much better for the U.S and Europe to arm Ukraine and let them degrade the Russian capabilities. The cost will be much smaller than a direct confrontation a few years down the line. America still want to be the top dog on the world stage. A weaker Russia plays in to that perfectly.

IMO if you apply logic, and normal ideas of what's good to people like Trump you'll go mental. You probably care about saving lives, freedom, democracy etc. Trump just wants to be like Putin, an adored supreme leader who can hurt anyone who doesn't bow to his power. Mass slaughter to end democracy is just fine in his book. Unless Europe bows and scrapes to Trump, he doesn't care and he won't help us.
