Amazing how many people who don't watch the BBC have such strong opinions on it's content they obviously haven't seen It might be because they spent years watching it but then stopped when it went all woke and lefty biased . Like him or loathe him todays speech oozed more leadership than anything since he has resigned and the farewells while stage managed , genuinely affectionate as a student of political history but with no political bias my gut feel is the conservatives just lost their biggest electoral asset , as all the current new brooms seem to Lsck the necessary presence . |

It's an almost universal response on here amongst those without anything constructive to say, but not particularly happy to have it pointed out that, despite years of their preferred political preference being in charge (or at least, the one they despise not being in charge) the country is in a mess. Stepping down as an MP would be even better, although I suspect taking the salary and doing fuck all for a few years probably quite appeals. |

The one PM that Johnson is regarded as closest to in terms of temperament is Lloyd George who was equally scandal ridden . Next month will see the 100th anniversary of LG’s fall from power . I think that there are similarities in both cases , both were charismatic , both were essentially outsiders , both nearly died during the pandemics which happened during their period of office . In the case of Lloyd George it was Spanish Flu and with Johnson COVID
October 1922 saw the rebellion that saw the demise of the Welshman and he never returned to power . He was 59 when he left Downing St. Johnson is 58
