Didn’t get to see any of todays play, but it looks awfully familiar.
At some point our opponents dig in and find one or two players who can hang around to post a decent score while at the same time our bowling appears increasingly anaemic.
I won’t see tomorrow’s play either, but, I wouldn’t be surprised to see NZ post something above 350 which will see them win the test at some point probably on Sunday but possibly late tomorrow.
Our new dawn looks like Groundhog Day.

After my clamour for Matty P, I'm off to lock myself in a dark room with nothing but a candle and an A3 portrait of Dom Bess.

Well we’ve at least given ourselves a chance with our efforts this morning.
It’s going to be a huge ask for this batting line up though and I’d be extremely surprised if they pulled it off.

Someone tell these idiot batsmen of ours, they have nearly 3 days to get these runs, so don't do something stupid.

Bairstow needs fucking off, arrogant brain dead batting when Jamieson was just about to be taken off. A specialist batsman that doesn’t know how to defend a straight ball, pathetic…..

Apparently 26% of his Test dismissals have been bowled. That percentage is 3rd on the list of players with as many or more innings. One of those worse than him is Courtney Walsh. probably the most No 11 of No 11 batsmen in Test history. Surprisingly the other is the Indian batsman of the 1970s Gundappa Viswanath, but he at least had the excuse that he spent a large portion of his career batting against the likes of Lillee, Thompson, Roberts, Holding etc.

Test Average is 34 in 150 inns Would he get in any other Test team in the world with that average? New Zealand's top 7 all have averages above that.

With the new ball still 15 overs away you’d like to think we’d get the job done in the morning. Still, it’s a very long tail we have and an early wicket will signal panic stations.
Changes are a must for the next match though. I know we don’t have the depth in quality to make wholesale changes but Crawley, Pope and Bairstow all need replacing.
If we only make one change it has to be Pope to miss out, he was extremely lucky to keep his place in the side for this series let alone be promoted up the order. An absolutely ludicrous decision.

Maybe Bohannon or Compton? Compton and Brook for Pope and Bairstow would be my changes with Crawley moving down to 3. I don’t rate Crawley but it’s pretty clear they’re going to persevere with him, especially now that his personal coach is the managing director of English cricket.
