Big shame to lose both Mills and Roy through injury going into the semis. Not a huge fan of Wood in this format. Agree. I’d rather go with Willey. Certainly a shame for Roy, but we can cope with him missing. Bairstow opens with Buttler and Billings comes in. Disappointing to lose today, but good that Malan and Livingstone had some time in the middle. Particularly Livingstone who hit the mother of sixes today. |

Always good for a wicket or two in the powerplay and with the other options we have he wouldn’t necessarily have to bowl his other couple of overs. Thought we batted ok on the whole, we probably get over the line without Roy’s injury. |

It'd be impressive to win every game throughout the tournament, so let's hope that's our only loss out of the way.
I have a horrible feeling the Aussies will win it after we battered them senseless...

A big game underway in the World Cup; New Zealand v Afghanistan.
If the Black Caps win they will eliminate India and will most likely be our opponents in the semi final (Pakistan, who have already qualified, will top the group if they beat Scotland).
And New Zealand look in control; Afghanistan are 68-4 after 13 overs.

Bairstow is at his best opening and for me should have been there from the start. Same goes for Willey. Billings would be very handy coming in at 7. |

If we're going to lose to anyone, losing to the Kiwis is the least painful option.
I saw an interview with their skipper Kane Williamson earlier in which he discussed the World Cup Final loss without any rancour then said "we just moved on to some Test cricket", as if winning the Test World Championship was barely worth a mention!
Very modest chap, cracking bunch of people New Zealanders on the whole.

Not a bad total.
Probably about par, maybe a tad over. It’s better than I feared we might end up with.
But, in a semi final that might be slightly better. Particularly against New Zealand whose biggest strength is with the ball.
