Can’t see Mills playing either, pretty sure Jordan will play. As for Willey, whenever he plays I’m impressed but I can’t help thinking he gets the Plunkett treatment. As in he plays only when others can’t, despite being consistent I've watched all of the IPL since it restarted and this weeks qualifiers and the ball has hardly swung at all in any of the games. The expectation also seems to be that there will be pretty heavy dew for the 2nd innings of most games from now on which, unless you can guarantee bowling first, renders swing bowlers almost redundant. I would expect it to be a tournament where pace (especially those with a well disguised change of pace) and spin are the key factors. Good knowledge, I couldn’t be arsed with it on the restart

I may admit to nodding off during a few games if pushed.

Kicking off with Australia vs South Africa in an hours time😀 Amazing to think Australia, with all their talent (and resources) are ranked #7 in the world. ( link) 1. England 2 India 3 Pakistan 4 New Zealand 5 South Africa 6 Bangladesh 7 Australia 8 Afghanistan 9 West Indies I’ll not dwell on who is top of the pops!

I guess part of the appeal of T20 is it's unpredictability. West Indies may be ranked 9th but they always seem like dangerous opponents in this format.

Wow! 55 all out, Rashid 4 for 2 from 14 balls. Superb bowling but utterly awful slogging from the Windies.

So the “catch” deserved a wicket but having reviewed I can’t see how that decision isn’t reversed. The ball clearly was grounded

An emphatic win for England. A little disappointing to lose 4 wickets in such a small chase, but the bowlers did a superb job. The main talking point, I guess, will be something that didn’t happen. Meaning Malan didn’t get to bat. Which is fair enough… Bairstow, Mo and Livingstone all deserve to bat higher than him based on both form and approach. How he will feel is a different question. From #3 to #7 is a big drop. It must be hard to take. The positive for him is he is still in the starting 11. Anyway… well done England. An excellent start. The big positive net run rate is worth an extra point.

Good win for England, but hopefully they will have also learned a lot.
It looked like we had a pretty well balanced attack for these type of wickets and while we will probably have to make changes every now and then, I would hope we would try and keep a similar balance to the bowling.
The wickets all look as though they are going to be low and dead and therefore it looks like being a relatively low scoring tournament (based on today, the qualifiers last week and the IPL fixtures).
Low scoring games could produce a few surprise results, especially if the top order batsmen try too many cross bat shots.

So, I wonder if Malan’s position will depend on when wickets fall. He may well come in first wicket down after the power play ends. That would make sense.

I think Malan has an important role to play. I don't think these wickets will suit batsman who just blast from ball one. We will need an accumulator. My only concern is whether he is good enough at manoeuvring the spinners. I think Joe Root would have been a real asset on these wickets. On a separate note, it is disturbing that our only fast bowler for the Ashes is injured again and having to rely on injections.

The squad that's going to Australia this winter is the worst we will have taken since 1998/9. We're in for an absolute pumping.

Always great to see India lose Yep, they generally spend two years being absolutely useless but then look as good as anyone when the big tournaments come around. Babar is as good a batsman as anyone in this format.

On another note, how good was Shaheen Shah Afridi yesterday? This guy has got everything to be a top top bowler for years to come. Tall, quick, swings it late. An absolute nightmare for opening batters

Good tight match that 👍 🏴 > 🔨 ... everywhere they go 🎶 Afghanistan will be a tough game for anyone in those conditions, what a meteoric rise they’ve had. That said, I’d be embarrassed if we lost to them. As for Scotland, well, that’s Scotland in a nutshell I’m afraid! Titter🤭

This is great news and although we will still be massive underdogs, we will at least be able to balance the team now. It is also great news on a human level as depression and stress are so difficult to conquer.
