Well… not great so far in the power play. Ah it’s only a muck about👀 Looking at England’s batting, Malan showed again what a problem he can be. 18 off 18 is not good enough for a #3. Not so much for the number of runs but it is far too slow. Particularly when you have hours at 4,5 and 6 who can bat at 150+.

I’m happy to persevere with him, he does tend to learn quickly to differing conditions.

I really don't understand how Jordan keeps getting in this T20 side. Death bowling is atrocious and he can't bat.

It can be very much a lottery in T20 and he bowled some poor balls there but he’s done it in the past. He’s an important player for us. And he’s a superb fielder of course

Death bowling is not the best, he definitely can't bat and you can't pick someone cos he's a good fielder. Willey bowled far better. I really don't get the love-in for him

Having seen today’s game it throws up some interesting thoughts for our starting 11.
If we work on the assumption that Mills and Morgan will play and that, between them, Rashid, Mo and Lawrence will bowl at least 10 overs I reckon we only need 3 quicks in the team. Today we had 4… Wood, Woakes, Willey and Jordan.
Roy Buttler Malan Bairstow Lawrence Morgan Ali Willey Woakes Rashid Mills

Half time in the second warm up game and England have posted a par score against New Zealand.
Main men were Buttler, Bairstow and Billings.
Roy and Livingstone got out early.
Malan and Morgan took too many balls to score too few runs. Those two are a big problem. I don’t think we can afford to play both. Frankly, I’d rather see Willey, if we play him, batting at 3 with a view to get on or get out (something that Malan cannot do) with Billings coming in as a “finisher”; a role he showed today he is very capable of playing.
So, my revised line up and batting order is…
Roy Buttler Willey Bairstow Livingstone Morgan Billings Ali Woakes Rashid Mills

www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/58993488Dom Sibley pulls out of Lions squad to work on his batting at home, to try and 'regain his test place'. Surely going out to Oz and playing some proper cricket, against good teams and being around the England squad will do more for his batting than going to the indoor nets at Edgbaston?

Surely going out to Oz and playing some proper cricket, against good teams and being around the England squad will do more for his batting than going to the indoor nets at Edgbaston? I guess it depends on what he is planning to do. If he has accepted that he has a major flaw in his technique and is planning to make a significant change to address that issue, then weeks/months in the nets concentrating on that change is probably the way to go. If he just thinks that he is out of form, then playing "proper" cricket would seem to be the best approach. Time will tell.

As for Willey, whenever he plays I’m impressed but I can’t help thinking he gets the Plunkett treatment. As in he plays only when others can’t, despite being consistent

As for Willey, whenever he plays I’m impressed but I can’t help thinking he gets the Plunkett treatment. As in he plays only when others can’t, despite being consistent I've watched all of the IPL since it restarted and this weeks qualifiers and the ball has hardly swung at all in any of the games. The expectation also seems to be that there will be pretty heavy dew for the 2nd innings of most games from now on which, unless you can guarantee bowling first, renders swing bowlers almost redundant. I would expect it to be a tournament where pace (especially those with a well disguised change of pace) and spin are the key factors.
