Anyone know much about Anuj Dal at Derbyshire? He's been superb with bat and ball this season (probably my highest points scorer in the Fantasy League) and I've just noticed he was born in Newcastle-under-Lyme and played local cricket in North Staffordshire as a youngster before moving to Nottingham.......

Watched a lot of Derbyshire this season mate either live or on the stream and I’d say he’s the most improved cricketer at the club. His batting has really come on leaps and bounds and I think he deserves a spot higher up the order than batting at 7 at the minute.Nips in with a few wickets as well with his medium pace and I know Mickey Arthur rates him highly as well

The Aussies only play ten Sheffield Shield games a year (think the finalists may play an additional game?) and they seem to be able to produce decent red ball cricketers on the back of it.
I say that not to disagree with the contention that the ECB seems to want to take the shiny dollar at every opportunity and throw away over a century of tradition and cricketing history, but just to float the idea that it's not necessarily the format of the English summer that is the problem.
I've often wondered why we import so many cricketers to this country to improve their games, yet how many of our cricketers spend summers in India, Australia, SA or NZ to do likewise?
I quite like the idea of three six team divisions, counties playing each other home and away, with promotion and relegation between divisions. I'm not sure if that's what the plan is for?

Why is it a disgrace that there's no Test cricket in August? Because it’s the middle of summer FFS and the shit competition that is the Hundred should not be priority in the month of August for me,if absolutely stinks August isn't the middle of summer in the UK. June and July are. So you don't think we should be playing Ashes tests at the time of the year when we get the hottest weather, most sunshine and longest days? You just don't like the Hundred, and I get that it's not perfect for everyone. However, it's making a shit load of money for the ECB and getting young kids into cricket. It's here to stay until at least 2028 so if that means we have to play test cricket in June and July, then I really don't think that it's a big deal.

"idiots" "folk like yourself"... What does that even mean? I absolutely adore Test Cricket. It is at the absolute core of the game, the foundation and where all other forms of cricket came from. I go to test matches every summer and watch Championship cricket at Lancs at least 3 or 4 times every season too. I prefer to watch red ball than white ball cricket. However, I do still go to the odd T20 or Hundred game too. Test cricket will survive, and if anything is thriving in this country. Grounds are always full for test matches and it'll stay that way. I just really don't see what difference it makes if we don't play test matches in August. If they were scheduled for April/May then I could see your point. I'll say it again, you just don't like the Hundred but it isn't going any time soon. Take off your red ball tinted spectacles...

You’ve been brainwashed by idiots like Kevin Pietersen who’s been spreading his bile on Social media about the county game. Also I’ll give the Hundred another year or two before it dies a death

Also I’ll give the Hundred another year or two before it dies a death I don't agree or disagree with it. What's clear is that there is too much cricket(for the players anyway) and that something has to give. I don't necessarily agree with Ben Stokes either when he says the calendar is too full, because certainly for a test player with a central contract, they are very much protected from playing too much cricket. I am a red ball purist, so it would be sad to see the amount of Championship games reduced. However, it could potentially improve the standard of them? As someone else said, I think the Sheffield Shield games in Australia are more keenly fought and bigger occasions as they don't come around as often. The Royal London One Day cup has been a relatively poor spectacle for a few years now, although I did go to Trent Bridge to watch the final last weekend. 50 over cricket seems to be on the decline, as many players have said. However, again this is a way of keeping the competition going without getting rid of it completely. There is no perfect solution, and i'm sure in 10 years time again we'll be saying why don't we play our 50 over competition in the middle of summer etc... I've been brainwashed by Kevin Pietersen?? I don't use twitter, I don't follow him or read any of his comments in the media, I don't have Sky Sports so that was a bit random to throw into your argument! The Hundred is here to stay, it's all been agreed until 2028. Why would they get rid of something that makes so much money? We get to see our best domestic players play alongside some of the best international stars right on our doorstep. It's a win win.

Too much cricket🤣🤣Most county players haven’t had a game in August due to the pathetic schedule. I’m amazed you can say your a cricket purist and not see how bad all this is🤔bizzare As for the Royal London I think it’s been absolutely brilliant that younger players have had their chance in the competition over the last few years and that Kent kept the same players that got them to the final in the first place last Saturday.Alot of these players that went off the Hundred need to be careful in my opinion because with all these youngsters getting games and coming through they’ll find they have no team to go back to and counties will stick with the younger ones. Sadly just like football money is ruining the game

You are right in that it's been brilliant for the younger players to get an opportunity in these games. Someone like Joey Evison has been a find down at Kent. They will find their way in the county game just like others such as Luke Wood who has been patient in county cricket and is now playing for England in Pakistan.

Anyone following the T20? Good knock from Duckett in the middle overs. Feels like the perfect opportunity for Brook and Moeen to unleash their shots in the last 5 overs. Could be exciting!
