I don’t want to generalise in any way but I’m going to. I’ve been to India multiple times and Oz only once but I find the Indians with a bit of money to be the most arrogant folk I’ve ever come across so I always like to beat them! The Aussies are more up for the banter and generally take a defeat quite well I think. Yeah I get that, the Australian rivalry is just deep rooted and ingrained though right so will always be there? But I really dislike the way the Indian players are in the field more than anything. Although, trying to "intimidate" Mr Bairstow isn't going too well for them so far is it? Loved it late in the day when they brought Siraj on to bowl some short stuff at Bairstow and he promptly dumped his first one into the stands😀

Lots of disturbing reports of racism towards Indian fans at the cricket yesterday which is sad to see. There's nothing better than a day at the cricket and a few beers but I've noticed it's becoming more like a Stoke away day at times with a number of individuals completely and utterly off their faces, the authorities may have to step in and limit alcohol sales I fear if it keeps up.............

Such a shame after a brilliant day of cricket. Didn’t seem to be any problems in the Tom Dollery where I was and the atmosphere in the main singing area seemed to be very positive too. Fingers crossed for a positive start to today’s play and no nervy ending!

Good to see this getting some media attention and that the ECB have responded quickly… Be interesting to see if they make the link to folk getting pissed and the question of disorderly behaviour generally as well as racism specifically. Having a few beers is no excuse for behaving like a twat.

On the subject of twattish behaviour, this tweet sums up something we are familiar with… some people behaving like twats and the authorities looking the other way.
Well worth a read…

Righto…
I’ve remembered we kick off at 10.30.
And I’m ridiculously nervous.
C’mon England.
Put me out of my misery!

I'm going for 190 all out Basically Root and Bairstow have got to both score 100s, and even then Im not sure that will be enough I feel confident enough to say(at this moment) that if both get a 100 then we will win😁

The game is sold out and whatever the result, it was always likely that the game would be over before lunch.
Why is the ground mostly empty? When are ticketholders planning on arriving?

Superb from England that. India's tactics and bowling in the 4th innings were pitiful it has to be said but take nothing away.......

What a fantastic run chase.
Root and Buttler Bairstow (of course!) were sensational. So much in control. So relaxed. So good. So much style.
Brilliant.
Brilliant.

When they're free people can get them and then just change their minds I guess....... I think the issue was that these were available at 5pm yesterday when most Indian fans thought they were going to win it. By close of play that one had completely been flipped. Hence, a lot of Indian fans who booked the tickets and didn't want to see their team humiliated didn't show. That has to be one of the best batting partnerships in Test Cricket history. Bairstow and Root completely dominated a very good attack, from being very much on the ropes. I think they could have changed the ball every over and it wouldn't have made much difference. Huge Congratulations to England. What was the odds on an England win on Monday morning?

In the same way that the Aussie team of the 90s changed Test cricket with a more attacking, higher run rate approach than was previously the case, I wonder if this England approach will rub off on other teams too and we'll see them all adopt it, presumably with varying degrees of success?
Have to say I like it so far. Before, 378 would have been seen as far too many and we'd have tried to just survive. That takes away all the pressure off the bowling side. You know you're not going to lose, you know your bad balls will get left alone, you just keep plugging away until the batsman makes a mistake or you bowl a jaffa. This new 'ODI' approach to run chases keeps the fielding side worried and pressured. It's got to be a factor in these wins.
