I don't think it was a second string tbh. 6 players that should be starting at the weekend? Duhaney Wilmot Tymon Thompson Powell Brown 3 weeks back you said Thompson should be nowhere near the first team????

Does anyone have a summary of the additions to the team (Duhaney etc). I couldn’t get to listen to the game today. I read Pete Smith’s take but he’s always as complimentary as he can be.

His long range/clearance kicking has been terrible all season I’d be the last to drop and knock a youngster off the back of one shambles but Davies gave the perfect shout out tonight as to it possibly being justified. Ultimately, the best headache you want for your manager to have. I don't think it's been terrible, it's not as good as it was. But then I don't think that's something Davies will improve on? Davies has more than earned his chance. Quite probably he’ll get it. That will be the manager’s decision, and I doubt he’ll take your apparently infallible opinions into account. Bursik is not inspiring confidence in his defenders at the moment, and Davies has shown himself much better in that respect.

Why even say that 😂😂 He’s had one bad game and people can’t wait. The lack of faith in young players in our fan base is very strange.

shockingly biased write-up on the BBC website, we dont get any credit for the way we played at all Late goals from Sam Clucas and Josh Tymon gave Championship side Stoke City a surprise win over a wasteful Watford in the Carabao Cup third round.
Clucas scored with a low, deflected shot from 25 yards before Tymon's mis-hit cross looped over Rob Elliot.WTF?? Well... It was deflected Surely that's a cross (goal of the season if he meant it mind) and Watford were wasteful Yep. Looking at the highlights back they must have felt how we felt after the Barnsley game. They missed some sitters. Swings and roundabouts, fine margins and all that.

Duhaney Wilmot Tymon Thompson Powell Brown Duhaney should only start if Doughty is unfit, he is a steady right back not a wing back. Thompson can’t play as a pivot needs to play in a two and Powell iis not fit enough yet to start based on tonight.

I don't feel it is appreciated nowhere near like it used to be. It used to be a competition where full strength teams were always put out. Even the general promotion of it is lacking. What's happening to the FA Cup is what has happened to the League Cup which I agree it is judged like there no point, which is totally the wrong view. In my opinion I would have the winners of League Cup and FA Cup in a final match together for a Champions League spot instead of 4th Place. It’s not what it used to be but I think getting ridding of the League Cup would enhance it if it was done how I wanted to do it anyway 😂 I agree re a Champions League place 👍 I think it probably would enhance the FA Cup if abolished or would it just make the FA Cup even more reason to field 2nd string sides. The FA and EFL have allowed this to creep in and before you know it no one cares anymore. I actually think players want to win them both too it's more down to the clubs.

Have been one for scrapping the League Cup for years as think having one Cup would maybe give the FA Cup some of its magic back as going the same way. I know politics etc wouldn't allow it but would love to see the FA Cup and Scottish cups merged.

He was blowing before half time didn’t do any defensive work and would have been off for a Clucas if Doughty hadn’t been injured. He is our best player but not at the moment, needs to be eased back in

Doughty injured? Serious or more fatigue? Looked like a muscle injury how he limped off

He is our best player but not at the moment, needs to be eased back in I don’t want him to do defensive work so sounds like he was doing well When a man runs at him with an open pitch ahead not trying to tackle and then not chasing him is a clear sign of lack of fitness. As usual you are talking nonsense as Powell does a huge amount of defensive work when we play well as he leads the press. Look at his stats.

Again I don’t want him to do half as much work as he does. I want him to laze around the pitch being the beautiful mercurial football genius he is. I’m long on the record for saying he does way too much running and works too hard.

Thought Duhaney had a decent game tbf, but we were battered for long periods (think us v Barnsley) the fascination in playing out from the back with players who blatantly aren’t good enough ( Chester) will hurt us …lost count of how many times he gave the ball away on the edge of our box!
Still a win and into the next round!

My concern with Bursik is his distribution. He continually rolls the ball to defenders who are marked which immediately puts them under pressure. Inevitably, the ball comes back and it starts all over again! Don’t mind playing out from the back, but we are getting so predictable. All this passing back…. even from free kicks etc is so annoying.

Not necessarily the keepers fault mate, you need to have defenders who’re good ball players. If you’re stuck with defenders who’re hopeless with the ball at their feet and unable to create space then you have no option but to kick it, which should be a last resort.

Wonderful result. There's absolutely no way Tymon means that! C'mon lads.. OK the placement needs a bit of good luck but would he really smack it that hard (and that WAS obviously deliberate), if he was trying to cross into the box for an incoming player to meet?

Perm eight from about fifteen for the remaining places for me. (Until Powell and Ty are back fully fit, obviously)

Excellent evening out!
The BBC report is a bit one sided. We played well, tired a little after they equalised, and Clucas' goal came at the perfect time, but overall a balanced and competitive game.
The 26 shots on goal stat the report references as a steer on the game is misleading. Only 7 on target, versus our 6. Most of theirs were high and wide, their shooting was shite.
Good win.
PS Chester cannot play left in a defensive three, bloody awful.
