But which of our defenders CAN play left in the three?
From last night's commentary it seems Baart was our best defender, so do we try a combination of Harry, Wilmott and Baart until we find a proper left sided defender?

I get the whole develop the young keeper, don’t damage his condfidence, give him a reason to stay etc. But Davies is the better player for me, and you should play your strongest team where possible And that for me is Bursik in goal. Another bad game and yeah start to look at it. But you can't do it after one bad game because we have a fanbase that can't hack having young players in the side. That last sentence is absolute bollocks mate to be fair.

Ostigard has been fine as the right side of a three. Batth struggles to pass well. He’s also much slower than Ostigard and you need (some) pace to be either side in a three. I think Batth will just have to wait. He’s probably first choice pick to replace Souttar if he gets injured/suspended/really drops in form.

Yes, fair point about pace. Key quality every bit as much as heading, tackling and use of the ball.

That last sentence is absolute bollocks mate to be fair. Don't buy that at all. Are plenty wanted youngsters in previously who simply weren't ready or good enough but Bursik I don't for one second think is because of age, more to do with him not being our best keeper in some eyes and they make a valid point. There are many who see a youngster score say in the U23s and immediately want them promoted to the first team. We've done great things with young players the last 18 months or so and to be fair not seen a single complaint re them playing when proven good enough which a fair few have and great to see.

We fluked it. Now we need to prepare the reserves for the next round against Brentford.

Well Done Brentford is same level as Watford, very doable.

True, but the big clubs gradually crank up the number of first team regulars in their league cup team the further they go in the competition.

Well Done Brentford is same level as Watford, very doable. Brentford are a far superior side to Watford. Their reserve striker scored 4 in the last round, albeit against mediocre opposition. Still we aren’t half getting a decent record in this comp recently so anything can happen
