RIP , fond memories of Saturday lunch times , never saw him as a player. The stats speak for themselves.
Fitting it is Spurs v Chelsea today

Awful news RIP Jimmy😢 Can still hear him describing Johnny Butler’s run at the Vale akin to Sir Stan👍

RIP Jimmy. Him and Saint were the first duo of punditry and didn’t play it safe like today’s lot who are afraid to call it as it is (Keane aside). They seemed more knowledgeable but at the same time never took themselves too seriously.

Was an absolutely stunning player in his prime. Given his problems in later life, I am a bit surprised he lasted until he was 81.
RIP Greavsie - they certainly threw away the mold after they built you.

RIP. Brilliant player. Very knowledgeable pundit, told it like it was. Not like these modern day arse lickers. One half of a brilliant comedic double act. Greaves and the Saint will be making people laugh, wherever they may be.

My favourite player when I was 7,8,9 years old but then the Mighty Potters came along. When the saint and greavsie show was at its peak (mid 80’s?) I wrote to Jimmy about something football related (just an observation really) and was amazed he wrote back! Legend

My dads favourite ever player, says that as natural finishers go no one came close.
He’s been in a bad way for a while and this day was inevitable but still very sad. RIP to a footballing legend x

He was my boyhood hero when I first started going to Spurs matches in the late 1960's. One of Spurs greatest ever players and I was privileged see him play. RIP Jimmy.

This one hits hard. My childhood and perhaps only ever football hero . I don’t know why he captured the imagination of a small boy in SoT like he did - it’s not as if football had vast tv coverage back then - but he did. He was cool, calm, always there when in mattered in the penalty box and had a winning personality. Anyway I was always Greavsie playing in the street or the playground and to me at least he will always be the greatest. RIP Jimmy.

Saw him play many times. We've lost a true legend of English nogger and he will be sorely missed by many who lived through his era of entertaining us. He was a great footballer, a brilliant pundit, and a very nice bloke. RIP Greavesie.

Plus loved Saint & Greavsie as a kid - such a great duo.

Sad news.
The greatest and coolest finisher I have ever seen.
We started the 1970/71 season by keeping 6 clean sheets in a row at home and didn't look like conceding until Jimmy looped a shot over Gordon Banks for West Ham.
Remember him telling an interviewer when questioned about a "scruffy" goal he had just scored that he wasn't in the least bothered as a goal where the ball crossed the goal-line by an inch was worth exactly the same as a 30 yard thunderbolt.
Having said that can remember him scoring a fair few goals where he went past 2 or 3 defenders as if they weren't there and then slotting the ball past the advancing keeper.
I was never a big autograph collector, but, I was and still am happy to have Jimmy's autograph from the above West Ham game.
A great pundit as well. We were a "BBC" family but we made an exception to watch Saint and Greavsie on a Saturday.
RIP
