Wonder if we will go for O'Donnell for RB? Got to be unlikely now he's signed a new contract.

I wonder if Ostigard has been targeted to do a similar role that Collins did last year? Right sided central defender who will move across occasionally and play at right back? He did that with Collins because of gaps in the squad and to give one of our own players game time but I don't understand why he would do that deliberately with a loanee (where the benefit of game time is to the parent club) when actually building the squad - there isn't any advantage to playing a CB at FB/WB and in this case it would seem Ostigard hasn't played in that position. I'm puzzled as well as to why we're looking to bring in another CB rather than bring in a specialist RWB/RB. My suspicion is either somebody is on their way or there are now question marks over Chester's long term fitness.

I am pretty sure if Ostigard is that much in demand,we would have to be selling the club with him in his best position, rather than you might have to fill in as RWB now and then. That said MON said 3 more signings, he and a CDM and Delap would leave no room for a back up RB?.

Doesn't sound like it - if we have that's some pretty dodgy targeting given he's pretty starkly not up for that! Assuming he signs, then I’m unsure how it’s going to work then. You’d think the best three on paper are Wilmot, Ostigard, and H but who’s playing to the left out of those three and where does it leave Fox, Batth and Chester? Is it possible that Souttar might be leaving? It leaves them competing for a place , like they're paid to do.

Depends how you look at it I see it as 5 at the back I think it's here to stay for a while regardless of how we see it, isn't it? 3-5-2 isn't invariably a negative set up. If your wing backs don't cross the halfway line it is, absolutely, but the signings we've made in central defence suggest we'll have at least one CB stepping forward with the ball. Doughty is an attack-minded signing and Smith, who I don't rate especially, has at least provided some telling crosses in the first game. That gives me hope that we'll at least be a bit more enterprising than last season. Most definitely. Like you say if it’s used in the correct way it’s not negative but how mon used it 2nd half of last season was 5 at the back. Hopefully now he has more confidence in his team to make it offensive. I don’t rate smith but he’s better at Rwb and puts some decent balls in good areas which is what we need. This Norwegian kid does sound good though seems a hungry player

Nothing much normally happens on a match day does it. Expect this guy may be announced if done on Wednesday. Most important now DM and Delap. We do need 4 strikers for a whole season. Didn't used to be like that. In the 1960s we announced the signing of Denis Violet (a Munich survivor) from ManU just before a night match against (I think) Leicester. In the corner between the Boothen End and the Main stand at the Victoria Ground there used to be a small building with a balcony (a less attractive version of the cottage at Craven Cottage) and he appeared on the balcony just before kick off to cheers from the Boothen End - and I was there! Happy Days.

Surname translates to cheese in farm (most likely derived from A Cheese Farm). Has to have his shirt sponsored by the oatcake surely? or Poveys? If we were to introduce him to oatcakes, Poveys would be the last ones I'd give him.

I don’t quite remember that far back but it always seemed the first I heard was in the sentinel from Peter Hewitt! 🤦♂️ Wednesday is players day off I think so seems to default to that day now.
