Could we afford Jamal Lowe? We were close to signing him when he left Wigan by all accounts...

Where’s Cooper gone cos on wiki it says he still at swansea Don't think he's gone anywhere. He's just resigned because he'd lost 3 key players and didn't find much support from the Board in replacing them. He was linked to a Premier League club, and as impressive as he is he just doesn't strike me as a Premier League level manager. Saying that, if MON is floundering by Xmas then Cooper is the first man we should be looking at to replace him.

In my experience of life on the Oatcake this will be the cue for Swansea to launch a successful promotion campaign!!

Swansea do this all the time. They build a squad of primarily loan players. Cooper did have very good connections for this after his time in the England youth set up and they have loaned some very impressive young players over the past two seasons. Losing Cooper is a blow but whenever they lose a manager they seem to replace him with someone who does well. I'm not counting my chickens yet just as I'm not with Derby. I suspect both will be OK, certainly not relegation candidates (assuming no points deduction) and with a good run could well get close to play off places.

He might have got the chance but £3m compo probably did for him, being seen as a quitter isn't a good luck though.

I bet he'll be able to get high quality loan players for 6 months which no one else would be given. I always thought the reason Lampard did so well there was because of the loan players he was able to bring in. I also suspect that once Derby log their revised accounts their restrictions will be lifted. I noticed Rooney was getting involved in appealing to the league to relax them the other day.

I'd have Cooper right now. You would want to replace a manager clearly committed to a long term project with one who by all accounts is out there touting himself to the highest bidder? When we've finally got in a position where we can build a squad with a coherent strategy the last thing we need is another short term appointment whose sole motivation is to get themselves noticed. I'm not doubting he's a decent manager but he's exactly what we don't need at the moment.

For Cooper to get himself noticed he needs to WIN and we need a winner for a Manager.
