Watford going for the Forest Green manager. Bit left-field genuinely think he'd be daft to take that job

Biggest wrong decision we made not going for him instead of Lambert or Rowett. He made it clear he would have come on both occasions.

He'll get a pay off if he's sacked and can't see him harming his reputation too much if he does? Better to have it on his CV than not.

I just think it’s a massive gamble on his part when he’s really only managed at League 2 level(apart from the U23’s at Wolves) and at a club with their reputation with managers🤔Time will tell though

Football Insider claim our old pal Rowett was in the running for Watford, before they decided on the Forest Green manager He must want his head testing if he takes that job🤔absolute stupidity I think the opposite. On the financial side; he had a decent playing career but spent the bulk of it in the championship. So taking this job will probably represent a lifestyle changing boost to his income and secure financial security for the rest of his life. In terms of progression; FGR are clearly a very well run club but (without knowing the finances of their owners) they’re already one of the smallest in the efl and are surely close to their theoretical peak. He’s stepping up several tiers essentially with a free shot at success with a powerful club relative to the league he’ll be competing in; and even if it doesn’t work out (highly likely given their record of hiring/firing) it will hardly be the biggest blot on his CV if Watford are say 11th by November and he gets sacked / 7 figure payoff. I’m sure his next job would be another championship club; or a big league one club. He’d be mad not to take it.

If Watford are 3rd or 4th in November he will get sacked if he makes it to xmas I would be amazed, can't see their show ponies taking to him but yeah for him its a no brainer 3 years money for 6 months work, although having listened to forest green chairman saying watford dont want to start paying him until 1 july I wouldn't be filled with confidence could be a right crash car and out by september...

Ye Watford are that batshit it’s just a freeroll for the guy. If he does well he’s on the radar of the premiership merry go round - if it goes disastrously he’s getting 7 figures into his account and I’m sure his career will still have progressed. It can’t go worse than Jones’ time here and neither him or Rowett have suffered career wise for it. Jones’ time was particularly disastrous and his career has flourished since. As you say it’s a no brainier.

Forest Green don't sound chuffed Well said FGR a thinly disguised stab at both manager and Watford. What they really should have said though is "they hope he takes Watford down to league 1 next season and FGR are the team that takes their place before he gets the sack and has to go to manage a team like Crewe. Gouranga.

Sounds like a TV presenter. And looks like one.
Edit: there's a reason for that. Rick Edwards.
