I seem to recall that it's really important that England don't boycott the tournament, or at least not until plenty of others do. Otherwise, it gets perceived as the arrogant English refusing to play with foreigners and being all colonial, which is a good way to stop any boycott in its tracks.

Being honest would be a far bigger loss to the tournament globally if Germany boycotted over England. Not going to Qatar would also result in a ban from 2026

Should never have been given to such a country in the first place! I think it's a disgrace!

We have had long threads on this board where posters seemed to be overwhelmingly opposed to political gestures, or protests by footballers before games.
So I wouldn't expect to find much sympathy for Germany or Norway protests on here.

It's about time someone stands up and protest though! I really think FIFA is just a money driven organisation where the people in charge mainly are occupied by filling up their own pockets, bastards!

Adidas, Nike , Apple and Samsung all manufacturer their goods using slave labour in China So if we are happy for the sponsors to use slave labour in China , then why moan about the hosts using slave labour in Qatar ? Obviously , none of these companies or countries should be allowed anywhere near football for obvious reasons . But they are ! Parents shouldn't allow their kids to buy adidas , Nike , Samsung and Apple products but they do ! And they buy them for them As birthday presents and Christmas presents !! And tell them they look cool !!! And buy them for themselves It's a disgrace but pretending to care isn't going to help the situation Everyone who buys products made from slave labour , should just shut up and avoid being labelled hypocritical on this subject Or better still , stop buying this stuff for themselves and their kids www.forbes.com/sites/siminamistreanu/2020/03/02/study-links-nike-adidas-and-apple-to-forced-uighur-labor/Almost everyone with a name seems to be at it. Add Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda, Lidl and Aldi to the list from here: www.theguardian.com/global-development/2020/sep/20/we-pick-your-food-migrant-workers-speak-out-from-spains-plastic-seaAnd it's been going on a long time too: theecologist.org/2015/apr/16/salad-days-semi-slavery-sweating-fields-southern-spainAll these companies have their "greenwashing" and "we're for the greater good" type schemes too. It seems the only way to be safe is to grow and buy your own, or buy as locally as possible. I just found out a company who scammed me and lied to me (Trading Standards agreed) are now (ab)using the Music Venue Trust and TimsTwitterListeningParty to sell their products. They somehow managed to get Stephen Fry to eulogise about one of their products too. I hope more countries are outspoken like Germany and Norway have been so far.

If they invest in such countries it's not up to required standards for investing with this fund! If it has happened I'll be surprised if it won't come public and be scrutinized. That said our national team can't take the blame for these investments and neither can I, but do I support such investments? The answer is NO! I guess you won't take the blame for Britain's actions in India, Africa, America or China back in time either.

Not the main issue here, sure, but anyone know what they plan to do with these spanking new 50 / 60,000 capacity stadiums when the three week jamboree is over? It's the Olympic Stadium fiasco but many times over. Remember the plan to play PL games abroad? If there’s enough cash god knows it will happen sometime Dublin would be fun for a Whingerspool v Manure. What does that big green stadium hold?

Amazing that the fruits of corruption can met with a global shrug of the shoulders. Other criminals have their assets confiscated. Not FIFA.

Curious as to whether football clubs themselves are getting lined up in the crosshairs to be boycotted due to sponsor/advertiser backgrounds or methods...

What is are the other countries doing? Or for that matter The Championship? Are we carrying on? Reported last week we're stopping from Nov 12 until Dec 10th www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/efl-sides-furious-world-cup-25006472The knock-on effect is that there will be a month-long break from action for clubs in the second tier, due to the international call-ups. A report in the Mail suggests that the 2022-23 Championship season would come to a halt on November 12 before returning on December 10 - when the World Cup is at the quarter-finals stage. But the month off would mean an earlier start date (July 30), with teams having to cram in their first 21 league matches before the November hiatus. That is before the possibility of Carabao Cup games are added in, which could swell the total to as many as 24 games.

Has anybody read the book Red Card written by an American investigative journalist who helped FBI to expose corruption in several footballing confederates, including FIFA, EUFA, CONCACAF and South America, bringing people to justice. A very good read. It may sound crass but for my own morality I have vowed not to watch any qualifying or finals games of the 2022 WC because of the hypocrisy of our own FA, sporting media and players

And Wenger and others want to make the World Cup every two years. I'd hope something like this disruption would but the nail in the coffin of that, but I doubt it.

Sounds like it’s going to be a very crammed and loaded schedule next season. The January transfer window (if still the same) could be an interesting one with the flurry of activity that usually follows a big international comp for all the big teams and then the trickle down effect.
If they qualify, We’d likely only have a couple that might be called up.
If we do need a slightly bigger squad to help with congested fixture list we’ll at least be removed if the shackles of FFP to accomodate for a long drawn out season.
