I took the chance in March and booked a cottage in Norfolk for a week next month, it has a few odd days left still open in June, the 2 days after we leave are free and you can book them at £1325 a night !! That's some piss take, that's over £2.5 grand for 2 nights in a self catering cottage, fookin scandalous.

Honestly haven’t even contemplated looking for an holiday this summer, we might look at Berlin/Krakow for the Xmas markets but that’s a “big” if.
It’s just not worth it booking, planning then continuously looking over your shoulder for travel restrictions.
We’ve decided to spend money on the house in the form of a new bathroom, far safer option.

St Ives for us late August I love St Ives, but it’s just way too packed anytime between Easter and September. We drove 40 minutes from our holiday base last year to St Ives for the evening. Got there at 5pm and it was shoulder to shoulder through the town and onto the quay. After half an hour we came away, just wasn’t worth the hassle. Lovely place but like so many other towns in Cornwall is just too busy to enjoy on occasions. Padstow is similar so I aim out of season if I can, but I know that’s hard if you have kids and who knows what the holiday situation will look like this year. Did you go up to the church on the island , fantastic view and can watch the dolphins

My plans have changed again...should have been Turkey late June for 2 weeks but they are on the red list. Managed to change it to 2 weeks in Madeira (green list) all inclusive and it’s almost £800 cheaper than Turkey so not too upset. Cornwall for 4 nights in August...daughter and her boyfriend will be dropped off at Newquay for Boardmasters Festival and me and the Mrs are staying in a guest house in Falmouth. Then finally I am planning to do the NC500 in September...got to keep a look out for Sorro tho as he’s promised to make me a brew in his camper 😂😎

which part, some nice areas around it, only 10 miles from me ? Lakeside Caravan Park. We want to do stuff we didn’t manage when we lived in Leek 2002-2004. Anderton Boat Lift, Chester, Chatsworth House (know it’s not that local but Mrs wants to see it if it’s open that is). We also taking bikes up to do some cycle paths. Anywhere else you recommend...........Liverpool Albert Dock? If you do venture to Liverpool it's worth hopping on the ferry for a quick visit to Birkenhead, there's a U-boat museum at the ferry station and a square with something like the 2nd most listed buildings in the UK, I was pleasantly surprised, I'd only got on the ferry to get a good look at HMS Prince of Wales that was in Liverpool at the time

I’ve replaced a 4 week tour of America with 5 nights in Falmouth in July. It’s a shame but it is what it is🤷🏻♂️ Absolutely love Falmouth anyway

We'd previously decided not to go anywhere this year, and certainly not abroad. My wife has started looking recently and we've decided on a week in the Yorkshire Dales/Moors and Herriot Country in early September. We're also thinking of a few days in the Cotswolds possibly in July.

That looks very tempting...not done the NC 500 before so really looking forward to it. Where did you stay on the overnight stops ? I don’t mind camping but the Mrs is insisting on pub accommodation or B&B’s.

I was on an MG run so it wasn't all coastal albeit I have done all of the Scottish coast over the years. The Applecross inn itself does B&B and if you're lucky you'll get a room overlooking the stunning scenery (there's just the road that separates the pub and the sea) The Plockton hotel is also in a spectacular location. The West coast is just amazing and I had the best ever Cullen Skink at the Sligachan hotel on Skye.

We got to loch carron at 2200 and just pitched up a decathlon pop up tent in the picnic area. We were gone by 0900 the next day. Brilliant This right to roam law Scotland has is brilliant
