Are these Red Kites spotted on passing or are they landing. Would love to get one on film. Saw article on Sentinel yesterday about the Peregrine's doing well in Peak District.

Leekbrook spotted whilst driving, I will keep my eye out and take my camera next time I am passing that way, I have heard about the Peregrines great news, we have barn owls on a fairly regular basis as well as Tawnys, I love opening the back door and listening to them at night.

Well, sightings have been a bit thin on the ground recently, I think the owls have been hunting around the sheltered spots out of this damn wind. Anyway a couple of stills from the cam traps...... Tawny owl

We went wait for the barn owls tonight, no luck, oh well at least it wasn't freezing cold and blowing a gale Might pick something up tonight on the cam traps. Been watching three live barn owl cams recently and the one in Devon has laid her first egg tonight.

Put the cam traps down by the wood out of the wind. This one was amongst over hundred of swaying trees I've set the sensitivity down to low now. Attachment Deleted

We had the most glorious of days yesterday and it’s been on my mind to go fishing for a day or so before that so off I set.
Popped into WalMart to get a disgorger and a fishing magazine and thought I would look at some monocular (without much hope in my heart for our local Wally Mart) I could not believe my eyes. Got a really nice 10x25, soft case, lanyard, $10. To put it in perspective the fishing mag was $6.
Fits in the palm of my, not so big, hand and a lovely, quick way to get onto the action really quickly. Did quite the hike down into a wetland creek bed and out again and it never felt like a chore to carry. I will be adding a neck lanyard to go with the wrist one.
Still planning on something with image stabilization (and probably) night vision but for ten bucks I thought if you drop it over the side or run over it with the Harley....oh well.
Was hoping for a green heron but there really was not that much moving around. I disturbed a bald eagle (and cursed myself royally for doing so) I will be watching my step next time. An amazing day for snapping turtles. Saw a big bopper at the waters edge of the creek and stopped off on my way home my a beautiful pool with a tree down in the middle of it. Snapping turtle heaven.
Crabbing season starts tomorrow. Mrs Md has booked off that and Friday. Cold front moves in today, chance of snow. We all been there at cricket season though so...it happens. Nationals open baseball season with a 7pm. Forecast is for possible 20s.

Slightly off subject but as a regular walker I have today seen Ladybirds, Butterflies and a Toad.
Unfortunately bad weather is now predicted and I fear that these poor creatures may suffer. That is nature.
