Ill call this one. Barn Owl above. We had an owl fly just above our living room window last night, peachy/pink underside so presumably it was a barn owl ??

Young or Adults or Both. Nice to here mate as quite a few small birds dont have much success with nests. Gladly posts everyone if you know a nest thats been successful because its nice to hear. Pair of Common Terns nesting locally to me and as of now so far the nest is doing ok. Surprising because they have opted to have it on open ground where its at risk to a number of predators Heron,Gulls,Foxes.

The young one has been on my feeder all day with its parent feeding it! Fantastic sight!!! I have a video that I'd post if I knew how to

We were sat out tonight in the back garden enjoying our evening meal when literally inches above us the tree we were sitting below the leaves came flying off followed by branches moving all over the place.
A buzzard had dive bombed/swooped on a wood pigeon sitting on its nest, amazing site and never come across buzzards doing such a thing or hunting for prey in this manner, always classed them as scavengers for road kill.
Must have been a juvenile as it must of injured itself given the tight branch formation.

As a lover of all birds it's good we do our bit.
However the Humble Wood Pigeon. I can't count how many I see when I'm out photographing.
And don't start me when they are on your bird feeders christ they just devour the lot.
They really are just about everywhere you go eating more and more along the way.

Bad News All. Sandbach flashes today photographing and wildlife watching. Between a mixture of Canada and Greylag Probably 20 dead so Bird Flu has clearly hit

Goldcrest the UK Smallest bird. Taken yesterday in awful lighting. I've not managed a decent picture in weeks. Everywhere locally has been deadly quiet. It's the same when I speak to others. Only thing of note really is a Great Northern Diver at Readsmere. Everywhere I've been at weekends just nothing showing. Last two Sundays I've done Wixhall Moss Shropshire.Great Grey Shrike had been seen there. We couldn't find it though. Has not helped weather being shit so photos will also look bad. White Throated Trush reported in Northwich 26th but didn't hear anymore info apart from that. Weather it's Shropshire Staffs Cheshire all very quiet. Rain hasn't helped my local flash. Flooded so just Ducks Geese too many Wood Pugeon and Crows. Even struggled to see a Buzzard of late honestly. Didn't have one this morning until 11am. Hopefully it picks up soon.

Signs of Spring def showing.
Wigeon and Teal numbers down so they will be off back to their spring grounds. Redwings fieldfare's as well.
A walk round our reserve on Sat and caught sight through my bins of 2 Ringed plovers and 3 Avocet.
Osprey reported in Dorset Yesterday with Sand Martin and House Martin seen in Devon and Cornwall.
Early nesters Herons building up in Heronries.
A nice highlight at Middleton is our Lesser Spotted Woodpeckers showing.
Cant wait for our Barn Owls to start with breeding season.

Had a couple of those on the apple tree in our garden about ten years ago, and never seen one since. Beautiful things, that flash of gold really catches the eye. Tiny little things. You think wrens are small when you see one but these really are. Nice story on the BBC website today. Beautiful Indian crane, quite a size too! www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/world-asia-india-64833175

Really are some stunners in N America Indian subcontinent South America Oceania. As do we. Devilishly quick and a nightmare to Photograph mate the beautiful Goldcrest. They don't stay still. Had a Firecrest local to me few weeks back. It was around but i never saw it. Dull day bad light and a big wood with a small bird made it nearly impossible to find. Firecrest 1 cm bigger than Goldcrest. Main diffrence is an eye stripe. Mainly found in the south.
