Mixed news from the Dyfi Osprey nest. Egg one hatched chick doing well, egg two hatched chick died of 'accidental suffocation', third egg due to hatch tomorrow apparently. Fingers crossed. By all accounts it's not uncommon re the suffocation. Your a man in the know. Im going to visit South Stack wed thurs to try Photograph some sea birds. Where near there or maybe a little drive away would i find good numbers of birds of prey to photograph. You know Red Kites etc? Even if its a little out of my route i dont mind.

You'll be travelling further North than my location but that northern part of Snowdonia I would have thought that you couldn't really go wrong. From experience here the kites nest towards the upper parts of the valleys in clusters of tall pine trees. I've never been to Anglesey and South Stack looks fantastic. The weather seems to be picking up from Wednesday which has to be a bonus because it's absolutely hammering down in Aberdovey at the moment.

Can i have your thoughts on this chaps. I bobed over to Burton Mere Wetlands early afternoon. To be told by staff and a couple of visitors that when one of the staff was locking up last night all of a sudden they spotted a Glossy Ibis.
Then it was seen flying in the area again today.

Swallow in flight this morning. Extremely difficult birds to Photograph. [br Noticed a few myself over the past 2 or so days, there’s a few outside now. We had a nest on the gable end but it fell off during the winter, pity really as it’s been used for years

Fantastic shots as usual alsager. I haven't seen the woodpecker at the back of my place for a couple of weeks now. Osprey update. Two successful chicks both doing well by the looks of it. Judging by the size of fish being brought back by the parents they aren't going to be going hungry anytime soon.

Still not seen the Green Woodpecker heard it plenty of times but not seen it.

Bit of fun this one. Someone has come up with a novel way to keep the gulls at bay.

A Spoonbill taking a good look around spotted at the top of trees whilst walking this morning. Alsy, you are turning out one stunning photo after another - we can't keep up with you. I don't know what your profession is, but if it isn't 'wildlife photographer'……… it should be! What a star performer.

Swallow in flight this morning. Extremely difficult birds to Photograph. WOW - Look at his 'v'-shaped tail. Another amazing pic, Alsy. I think we all know who's already won the Oatie Photographer of the Year trophy for this year. Congrats!

I’ve started to turn the TV off come dusk opened the windows and the songs are amazing, we’ve identified the more common song birds like the thrushes, blackbirds but there’s some smaller birds that don’t half belt out a tune or two, there’s an abundance of pheasants around which isn’t a pleasant call at all, sounds more like a car horn to me.
Currently standing watch over a nesting wood pigeon as we’ve spotted a magpie hanging around, bizarrely we’ve only seen the odd magpie, thinking as there’s loads of crows/jackdaws about they keep the magpie population down.

I've done exactly the same thing this afternoon, Quez - I'd got the tennis on the TV but wasn't watching it, just listening to it whilst doing a crossword….. but even over the commentary I could still hear so much fantastic birdsong from the garden that I had to switch the TV to mute and open the doors & windows that weren't already open. Magical little singers - such a treat. I always wonder how such tiny things can make such (well, quite) a loud noise and absolutely beautiful one.
