You were obviously happier 30-40 years ago when "Only Fools and Horses was on and times were better and where people had a smile on there face because things were a lot simpler and everything wasn’t being challenged." Entirely fair enough. Your choice to disagree with how you think things are going. I'm not sure being challenged to see if your child should undergo genital mutilation or sending children to racism de-radicalisation camps is a healthy place to be but hey 😂 Erm...and that's to do with cancelling comedy shows and the "woke" agenda, how exactly?

I’d say it’s more about having your own mind and have the balls to disagree if you don’t think things are moving in the right direction. You might call it progress just because it’s happening now doesn’t mean it’s better. Just means that it’s a different time. You were obviously happier 30-40 years ago when "Only Fools and Horses was on and times were better and where people had a smile on there face because things were a lot simpler and everything wasn’t being challenged." Entirely fair enough. Your choice to disagree with how you think things are going. From the numerous rally’s and marches in recent years I’d suggest things are going that well. However I do think we’re living in very entitled times particularly in the U.K. where people like to grumble and moan about pretty much anything. Social media of course doesn’t help because it just causes friction and disagreement. That said we do have some shining lights to look up to now like Chloe Ferry and Stephen Bear. Great role models.

The only one who seems to be ranting is you fella. And I'm certainly not going down another rabbit hole with you, it's a waste of time and there's four games on back to back. You try and enjoy your day mate 👍 Ranting, yes, hence all the laughing faces To be honest, I'm glad you've managed to shed the Angry Frank persona and all the name-calling and abuse. That's definitely progress. Enjoy the football and same to you Hey? Emojis- like the ones you use you mean? If we're using Harry Enfield characters as a point of reference, I've found one for you mate 😎

Of course society's moved on for the better (Covid notwithstanding). It's foolish to suggest otherwise. We've had advances in tech, medicine and countless other things. We are having a proper debate about the environment and race (although some people have to overstep the mark on both issues) and as I said further up this thread, it's only right that offensive names are edited out of films/shows. No problem with that at all. But we do seem angrier as a society today- and I mean before the virus. Violent crime is through the roof, gang violence is getting worse (just look at the scenes in cinemas a couple of years ago when Blue Story was out), key workers such as firefighters and paramedics are being attacked on duty etc. Do people chat with their neighbours now or are they too busy arguing with someone they're never likely to meet online? A lot of store is held in how you look on social media now. Also, compare a trip up to Hanley in the 90s/00s with now! It's like night and day. So to suggest that it's all beer and skittles now is utter bunkum- and that's nothing to do with Only Fools & Horses 😄 Apologies to anyone who thinks that was a rant 😉 It's merely a few observations I'm making on a discussion forum, and as a disclaimer to Bluers the reason violence and crime have cropped up is because we're discussing changes to society, are we not?

On a slightly related note to the censorship thing, why do commentators have to keep apologising if there's swearing at a football match? Unless the commentator swore themselves, there's no need. It's live sport not Swan Lake!
It's a good job we don't get streakers these days. Some people would have a panic attack and have to pop a bottle of beater blockers- before Tweeting their outrage 😄

Really good post you’re very right in relation to a lot of positives in respect to technology and quality of life but partly due to moving forwards in these and other things the obsession with 1) money 2) image has multiplied tenfold and increased greed and entitlement and a get rich quick mentality with little care about how people do it.

Entitlement a strange way of looking at things when I was growing up nothing was free nothing was asked for you worked and saved for what you got I wasn’t entitled to a place at university I wasn’t entitled to a job when I left school ( they were nearly as rare as hens teeth when I left ) If I fucked up it was me it wasn’t my parents fault it wasn’t the governments fault It wasn’t society’s fault it was mine Sadly nowadays it’s never the persons fault there has to be an excuse There are only three things guaranteed in life You’re born you die and if you live long enough you will pay tax

One to make your collective hearts sing... "A new "anti-woke" version of the Citizens Advice service to support workers threatened by the culture wars launches today. The organisation, Counterweight, will "support people at work, school and university who feel under threat from the imposition of anti-liberal policies and ideas". The service was conceived by Helen Pluckrose, a British author concerned about "unconscious bias training" and other forms of woke "critical social justice ideology" in the workplace".

What frustrates me is that the government are listening to these total weirdos! Why aren't they just telling them to fuck off? They'd get far more support from British voters for doing that than pandering to the bizarre, sinister requests of the "death to JK Rowling" / "women are men" mob.

It's quite funny with JK to be fair. She used to be right at the front & centre of the woke mob, then one day, like always happens eventually, she fell foul to the warped 'rules' she'd helped to create & so her own mob turned on her & wanted her cancelled!

It’s fine by me by the way, nothing wrong with it whatsoever

I can't believe some people took the time to study the people in the little clip art houses- anyone well-adjusted would see it for what it is, a set of generic households which is making the simple point: stay at home (men and women)! Actually, I'm appalled by the lack of diversity amongst the dwellings represented: no flats or static caravans? This is an outrage.
