Didn’t even notice he left, he left 3/4 years ago anyway and was a waste of W space then. It’s irrelevant anyway he still cost 18m... So this lad could be the bargain of the century or worst case we have lost pennies I agree low risk investment wise with potential to cash in or help us back to the promised land, still think the lad at Crewe would of been a better option. which one? Doughty is a winger really, can play full back sometimes it seems Pickering, if you mean him, looks a good prospect but he's a full back - Nozzer D has come in & had a good start

Nothing to do with being touchy. The assessment of Fox is plain wrong. It wasnt though. When he first signed for us he was very sketchy with his positioning, but more recently he's been excellent. Whether thats down to him or MON or a mixture of both who knows? Players can be an absolute plum at one club and then star player at another (a la Sheron), it doesnt make past assessments wrong! spoke to a Norwich fan the other week who still referred to him as 'Miss it Mike' he refused to accept I was being genuine when I stated he was simply superb for us absolute quality goal scorer at this level if we had someone like that now never mind play offs would fancy automatic promotion3 Really makes a an enormous difference having that type of player firing

I think we can all agree that we seem to be going down the correct path in terms of our recruitment now. Maybe. I still think the best signing so far under MON is Fox by a distance tbh. The other left back looks like he'll beat him but there's no chance imo he signs permanantly. The rest so far are no higher than 5/10's with the ones signed so far this Jan to see what they can do. This one has a lot of question marks over it with the nature of what's up with him and the player he's meant to be. If it doesn't affect his speed and doesn't become a recurring thing then definitely seems a good deal.

MON has stated he's been through a very thorough medical so they must have total faith in a full recovery.

londonnewsonline.co.uk/charlton-boss-gives-his-verdict-on-wingers-championship-move-and-outlines-transfer-plans/Celtic made a number of bids for the 21-year-old in the previous transfer window. But Stoke City have also been long-term admirers of the pacey attacker and fended off interest from AFC Bournemouth and QPR to land Doughty in a £650,000 deal. The League One side also have a sell-on, which is normal practise in a move of this nature. Initially Doughty was due to be loaned back to the South London club for the remainder of the League One campaign. But the medical flagged up that his torn hamstring would rule him out for all but the final handful of matches. “Stoke is a good club with a good fanbase and they were in the Premier League not so long ago,” said Bowyer. “They will get back there – whether that is this year, next year or the year after. “They have got good owners who have spent a lot of money over the years, and a good manager who has turned them around in the time he has been there"

I'm guessing the plan is he will replace McClean next season? Seems sensible to me, hopefully the injury doesn't impact his speed too much!

From Bowyer's comments, he seems a good kiddie www.cafc.co.uk/news/view/600ab516a9d83/alfie-doughty-completes-permanent-transfer-to-stoke-city“Alfie is a very talented player who has improved a lot in the last 18 months. He has worked hard, been professional and given everything for the club every time he has pulled on the shirt. “He wanted to come back on loan with us and help us finish as high as possible but by the time he’s fit again there won’t be many games left in the season unfortunately. Alfie has been a pleasure to work with and hopefully he’ll take the things he’s learned here and go on to do very well. We’re sad to see him go but it is a good deal for us as a football club and for Alfie too.” The 21-year-old said: "I was at Charlton for 15 years, so leaving has been tough. I can't thank the club enough, coming through the academy. I'd like to thank Bow as well for giving me the opportunity. It's not easy to bring in someone who hasn't had men's football, so I'm very grateful for the opportunity. "There is so many others I'd like to thank who have been so influential to my progress, people like Steve Avory, Jason Euell and Peter Lodge. I could sit here all day thanking everyone who has helped me because there is so many. Charlton has been my home for 15 years and will always have a special place in my heart." Everyone at Charlton Athletic wishes him well in his future career.

He only signed a new deal with them in December. I can't see why they'd sell him if they get relegated. He looks really good in this league, they'd be mad to see him go.
