I’ve enjoyed Nige’s commentary for many years, gaffes and all, but he seemed to be visibly struggling yesterday. When he finally hands over his mike it would be for him to remain with the sports team in some capacity as his knowledge of Stoke City could still be utilised. He may divide opinions but I enjoy his little quirks, but maybe it’s time for someone new to try a different approach to the match day commentary. Whatever happens he will always be a legend on my wireless ( one for the oldies there).

How many times have you sat at the match and said - "who passed that one" or "who scored that", etc. Its a very difficult job. I watched one game under lockdown on the stream and there was no commentary - it was incredibly difficult to see exactly who did what. I think Nige does a great job, try it yourselves before condemning him to the local charity shop. It’s his job.

I don't think that anybody who had to listen to the generic Sky Sports android on Wednesday night would have anything bad to say about Nige any more.

Serious question, do you see many people around you clapping when players take the knee? I'm a season ticket holder in the South Stand and I've not seen it once this season. If anything it was booed for the first few games (not by everyone, of course).

Still thought of by many as one of the best. I think we have a few waiting for Nige to make a mistake to have a moan. Either way , Radio Stoke won't be the same without him when he eventually calls it a day I totally agree with you, Nige is legendary. His passion for Stoke City comes through in his commentary….I love his “Nigisms” centre cirtle being one of my favs.. In the days before you could find a live stream of the game, you relied on the radio for live coverage of the match, Nige’s commentary is superb compared to some I’ve heard, it’s not an easy job, you should try turning the volume down on your telly and try to do the commentary.

You might just be highlighting here the lack of diversity of a Stoke crowd and the general mindset of the fan base (a mindset to which shows why taking the knee is being done). There’s cheers and clapping that comes from other supporters and other games. 😞

He’s a great one to play a drinking game to (similar to Sting’s Roxanne), everyone has to drink when you hear ‘and he Hhhhooooiiiiisssstssss eeeet High’ or the drunkenness inducing ‘SenterSurtle’, can extend it out to current players with oUr ‘Sue Tar’ or our striker ‘Jason Bourne’. I’m terms of actually providing a service and commentating though, he’s past it and it’s time for a change. There’s no background info or stats or insights, jeez there’s no info as to even what’s actually happening out on the pitch. Gotta love the guy and a great service to Radio Stoke and our club but you wouldn’t keep taking your car to a mechanic who doesn’t even know what make/model of car it is would ya?

One of the biggest gripes is that all the commentators don't concentrate on what's happening on the pitch and don't relay that information
Sometimes I have no idea who has the ball or which half its in and we are listening to football scores from other grounds which I have no interest in and if I did could easily check for myself.
Pejic never shuts up when giving his expert opinion, during his lengthy lecture about tactics I have no idea what is going on in the match
I`m not sure Nigel was watching when Stoke scored on Saturday

Blakeman is a self opinionated arsehole they are deliberately reactionary though, they want fans calling in for a moan and a row, that gets them brownie points doesnt it

This 100%,the bloke should have retired 5 years ago and as a station they should be doing something about it.You would also think his son would step in considering he’s also a broadcaster

Pejic never shuts up when giving his expert opinion, during his lengthy lecture about tactics I have no idea what is going on in the match I`m not sure Nigel was watching when Stoke scored on Saturday Yes, Nige got caught out on Saturday when we scored. I wasn't sure myself what had happened until I heard Ange say, "Great goal!". Nige was probably writing his notes at the time, which he does throughout the game. That was the first time I've heard Nige and Ange as a pairing. It may take a while but once they get used to one another, it will get better. I agree that Pej can be repetitive espousing his tactical nous. I much prefer TC or Smithy as ex-pro co-commentators. Lee Blakeman is okay. He's taken over from John Acres on the morning show. I thought it might spoil the show but he's actually very good at it. Whoever is the anchor man when the games are being played does have to try and make it interesting and it's their job to get calls coming in even if it's Jimmy as a controversial starter. Nige has been suffering from an illness for a while but he's done well to come back. Personally, I wouldn't swap him for a gold pig but that's just me. I love his 'Nigeisms' and his getting players mixed up cracks me up at times. OS.
