Not Ted is it, standing near front dark tank top? Phil Shaw from Hartshill two to the left of him? RIP Tony yes that looks like Phil Shaw and the lad next to him looks like a lad from Crackley i think his name was Tommy . also the lad on the front row holding the wrangler looks like a lad called Rigger

After the match at Wigan we all piled into a pub & there was a rugby league lad sat at the bar with not a stitch on. It was his birthday apparently. Tony buys him a pint then invites him over to our table. We all look at him as if to say what the fuck? Tony’s face is dead pan & he tells him to sit himself down then tells us I think he’s cold. Everyone was in stitches including the landlord & ale was spat in all directions. Tony just had a great smirk on his face 😁 what happened to his mate Pete, had a black moustache, think he was known as Pyscho Pete by a few of us. Was he living up Middleport early 90’s by any chance? Pretty sure it was Pete who got dropped off first on the way back from anywhere up in the North West.

It's quite remarkable, really, how so few in that photograph have been identified; either by themselves or by others. I thought every self respecting Stoke fan spent half his/her life on the Oatcake! 🤔

Absolutely fantastic picture. Totally encapsulates 1970's football. Where has the time gone!

Re the photo. It's Plymouth away - Watney Cup.
I recognise lots of faces but the 65 year old memory is struggling to put names to them.
As for previous comments, the guy in the bandana is deffo Minstrel, Neil Baker is there, as is Dave Rowley and I think I can see KP. I can't pick out Mark Bentley.
The interesting one is Tinto, 3 to the left of Tony Gray (as you look at the snap)
I'm still mates with Tinto despite the fact he's a Shit fan, though living in Stoke he's originally from Scotland. He goes everywhere with the Shit, home, away and abroad, has done for years and years. He's the only decent Shit lad I've ever met.
The trip to Plymouth started from the Inset the night before, arriving in Plymouth at the crack of dawn, I think that's when that snap was taken, on Plymouth Hoe. Tinto had been in the Inset that night and whilst in a pissed up fog thought it would be a good idea to come with us to Plymouth.
We were brawling with Plymouth all day, at various points during the game we ended up in each of the four sides of the ground. Their official flag was nicked off the main stand roof and it was the day that "Home On The Range" was first sung by Stoke.
We eventually left Plymouth on Saturday night, much to the relief of the plod and locals.
When I say we I mean everyone except Tinto, he'd been nicked during the day, in court Monday morning, got 3 months.
That was a night at the Inset Tinto won't forget.

I've just realised the youth on the end, on the right of the photo in the tartan jacket, may be Kenny Burgess, who's also a mate of Tinto.

Could the big youth, next to Tony, with the light top and trainers on be Drewie by any chance? He's certainly big enough, there's definately a facial resemblance, only thing is I would say Drewie had darker hair.

Who on earth would have bowled up to a game with a camera *? Tony G is on here. One or two others that you can probably identify. Quite possibly some Oatcake contributors. The bloke in the black tank top looks like he has a 5 ft right arm...

That's just a snap of a small part of the mob we took that day, I suspect an early - mid 70's Kodak Instamatic couldn't cope with too wide a shot. Wigan Dave had some snaps of us on that trip which I remember seeing, he also had some good snaps of the trip to Ajax, unfortunately we'll never know what happend to them now.
