RIP Tony, sad news. Used to enjoy trips away with him and the crew back in the 80's, Sue driving the van

2020 continues to get worse ..a truly horrible year for Stokes top table Like many of the characters of his era , Tony and me were worlds apart .. though as with others , that didn’t seem to bother him or me ..we accepted each other for what we were , Stoke fans , Stoke being the common bond and that was good enough for both of us
RIP lad

Travelled with Tony many times in the past although not directly with him but alongside each other
Cardiff away midweek around 1999 ( Megson and won 2-1 ) was one of the stand outs when only 19 of us turned up to travel early morning from the old hempstalls pub despite the coach being sold out
Still laughed about what occurred prior to the match for years after
RIP Tony lad

Loads of funny memories following Stoke away especially late eighties/early nineties and Tony was involved in most of them. Remember early nineties game away at Preston being locked up with Tony.and about 40 others for having to many shandies. He even put a van on for the court appearance a couple of weeks later., then on to blackpool for a few beers, but making sure we were back in stoke for teatime as we were playing Liverpool in the second leg of the league cup. RIP Tony.

RIP Tone.. Always made me smile.
Remember Preston away as we were on a stag do coach that went wrong that day. Plan was to go the match then onto Blackpool for the night. All but 5 of us got arrested before the match and we all ended up up with them lot in Preston nick until they drip fed us out through the evening. Think it was the night Michael Watson got badly beaten by Eubank.
Rest peacefully my friend.

Think the police put a bus on because there were so many of us and no trains. Strange they did us for being to drunk, then sent us the pub wait for the bus.

Would see him many a time near Stoke Station (where me + my brothers lived) providing a special welcome for away fans. Always stood out in his sheepskin! Pat Gallagher in Holland wishes to be remembered to him also.... RIP Tone

Tony was a colourful character but I'd just share a story about the generosity of the man . I'd travelled down to a game at Orient years ago with my wife , we had no money and thought we would get a cash point , sadly despite walking for ages had no luck , bumped into Tony outside at a time where we hardly knew him and he just gave us £30 and said give it back next game . Pure Stoke family at its best . In later years he travelled new and then on our mini bus always funny even if he was never wrong . Sad day RIP .

That’s the night we all got charged back in by the Cardiff idiots wasn’t it mate? They were all outside mate and were angry about our late goal and earlier in the day 😊 Pretty sure they left before our late goal. There was an announcement over the tannoy about a certain road, where away fans left the stand, being closed. Their fans were behind the goal with us in the stand at the side, and on the announcement the majority of them just left the ground so they could get at us. Walking across that car park dodging bricks and keeping an eye out for cardiif fans hiding to jump unsuspecting stoke fans was an experience, as was driving down the wrong side of the road and jumping red lights so the car didn't get tipped over onto its roof

Didn't know Tony personally but one memory sticks in my mind. Must have been early/mid seventies. I was sat with a couple of mates in the seats in the old Park Lane End at Spurs keeping ourselves quiet! When a shout of GREEEEEEEEENHOFF went out and there was Tony on the terracing below in the middle of a very large empty circle! Also who could forget his antics on that great night in Amsterdam? Ha Ha ..... RIP Stokie
