Another PT session to be ticked off tomorrow. I've lost a kilo so far in a week on my new deficit, so a positive start to breaking plateau. Just recently I'm really starting to see good gains around biceps and triceps, and increased vascularity thanks to eating as clean as I did a few months ago and becoming 5x a week at the gym again.
Fantastic date night on Thursday with the new bird. This week has been a very positive week. Long may this continue.

I’m guessing you’ll feel better than me in the morning🤣

Hi mate. All good here, lots going on but keeping my head on a swivel thanks to talking to people. That is the key. Lots of stresses and strains lately but asking for advice or just a chat is the way forward with anything.

I'm orate, up and down days due to my disability but have good people around me to keep me busy enough, but there's plenty worse off than me. Thank you for asking I know a few on here like to go for a walk. Any ideas for someone who'll be on a mobility scooter? I like Longton Park and Westport Lake, any others?

Me & my Mrs have officially split up after 4 and 1/2 years. I'm now contemplating if I should rent out an apartment in the middle of Manchester for 6 months or so or move back to Stoke. I have viewed a couple of apartments in Manchester last week and due to view more on Tuesday but you do not get much for your money

I have to admit I’m getting to the stage where I may have to lay off the news and other current affairs.
When big events happen, I try to consume as much information on them on possible, so I’m well versed and can understand (or try to understand) all perspectives. Constantly checking X, BBC news etc, but I’m not sure it’s the right course of action to take.
It’s just so depressing at the moment, both in the UK and the wider environment.
Has anyone else tried a news blackout before?

Has anyone else tried a news blackout before? I only read and listen to news I want to hear. I cannot imagine sitting through “the news” for half an hour. If I hear something in conversation or read something on here I might be interested in I’ll take a look. It all still depresses me but I think I may be a hermit if I watched the news every day. When it comes on the radio I simply switch off

Has anyone else tried a news blackout before? I gave up watching the news 12 months ago made me feel a lot better. Especially during the winter months, when everyone was one about the cost of living crisis constantly it was getting me down especially starting the day watching the news. Now I either watch Sky sports news or sometimes even a music channel for some background noise while I'm doing wordle with a brew and breakfast. Admittedly probably most mornings depending on traffic I catch the 2min news update at 8:30 on the radio on my way into work which is enough as I'm to busy driving to fully pay attention. I occasionally have a scroll through BBC news or something, if I'm bored waiting at the barbers for example. The news is to divisive these days with things like GB news, GMB and Jeremy vine. It seems to bring out the worse in society and it gets me down. You'll never have a complete blackout but I've drastically reduced my news consumption and I feel a lot better for it

Has anyone else tried a news blackout before? I haven't watched any news for 20 years. They pissed me off describing a light frost as arctic conditions. When news channels describe themselves as 'making the news' not reporting it, then you know you're in trouble.

I manage to pick up most stories on here/twitter etc - definitely feel better for it as you say, it’s just so depressing.

I know that it’s burying my head in the sand, but I’m fine with that right now. I’ve found that it has reduced my stress levels.

Anybody who struggles with the longer darker nights and dull winter should get themselves a Sad lamp. I noticed winter hours of light was having an effect on my mood. I got a good sad lamp from Amazon and paid £50 for it. It really has made a difference, since I had it and told others 3 other people brought the same one and have all said it definitely makes a difference, we all love it.
I've just put the lounge lamp away and replaced it with this sad lamp for the winter ahead

This video really needs to be seen more. Would be fantastic to have it on adverts during the televised games. I’m guessing we all “knew” what the outcome would be? A very powerful message for mental health. Having experienced the very same type of thing with a colleague very recently it’s very much something that resonates. A guy being the life and soul on the outside but internally really struggling. Luckily the guy I know sought help (not easy for somebody so outgoing) and is getting his life back on track. He went voluntarily to a psychiatrist basically and is now off the drink, drugs etc. Left his mrs who was exasperating the situation with cruel digs. He’s a lovely guy and I always check in with him even though he left my company as a result but upon his resignation I said he’d always be welcome back and I’d always stay in touch, which I have and will. If ever you’re feeling bad (it’s that time of year coming up, and I’ll admit I’m definitely one of those/you) just talk to somebody and be proactive. There’s also plenty of support on here. Good luck everybody and do not suffer in silence. People are there, real people who are only too happy to help through tough times.

Honestly badge I didn’t see the ending coming and I’m usually good for spotting those things. I’m very lucky that I’ve not lost anyone close to me to suicide but recently a good friend of a friend lost his life to depression. Though it was rare that I saw him, whenever I did he was always smiling and up for a laugh. Whilst it’s fantastic to see plenty of adverts for cancer research, mainly breast cancer, mental health doesn’t receive anywhere near the coverage it needs.
